Which is why a long term lockdown can never work. Pity she thinks she’s above the rules but nonetheless.

All a lockdown does is slow the affects of the pandemic down and give you time to prepare and manage it. We weren’t prepared and guess what; neither was anyone else for this strain.

The virus doesn’t go away. It’s still there. Pandemics aren’t new. We’ve had them before and we’ve dealt with them without all this mass hysteria.

Yes they’ve take lives. Many thousands of lives but today’s society is afraid of that and how we have a situation where our risk averse society insists the government does something. Anything to protect them. Scientists offer up so many conflicting scenarios that nobody knows who to believe and this causes even more panic because there is no plan once we’ve slowed the new cases and death rates down.

Except we’re not. We’re just delaying it. Of course we need to do that and we need to protect the most vulnerable which are still the elderly and those with underlying health conditions which to be honest is what we do in normal life.

As a society we don’t accept death the same way as earlier generations did. It’s hidden away in care homes and quiet hospital wards where every comfort is provided and last moments are expected and prepared for. This has shocked us.

So now government have struck with the most extreme and discriminate measures on society ever imposed and that with public support. We’ve given the police authoritarian powers that are completely at odds with our way of life even if they didn’t over react they way they have been.

We’ve resorted to law which requires exact definition and lost all common sense. We are now being treated as objects and instruments of policy.

And that’s before we even get to the economic cost. Already 1m people have now newly applied for universal credit. It’s estimated that around a third of small businesses will go bust in the next 3 months. Future generations will be saddled with a debt that can never be repaid.

Some scientists are talking about a 3-6 month lockdown. That is sinister. And a fantasy. The public will never tolerate that.

Viruses can only be defeated by a vaccine and eventually herd immunity. Lockdowns don’t cure viruses. They buy time to prepare better but then what?

Whatever they say I believe govs and scientists are resigned to hoping this herd immunity kicks in before we're all died.

Mags I have eaten at some honest to god top places, a wee restaurant in the Old town of Luxembourg being a particular favourite, no menu just asked do you want Lobster or Steak unreal the food but give me a scampi fry or a rustlers and I wont complain

I hate food snobs, there is a time and place for silver service and a time when a fish supper will be better.

I have young weans offer them a top side of marinated veal or venison or a chicken nugget which do you think they go for

Does Nature find a way in the end?

We have done a remarkable job of actually destroying the planet we live on, to the point that we might actually be capable of making our own Armageddon. We have actually wiped out entire species and indigenous peoples down the years, quite some feat.

Does old mother nature sometimes hit back?, I am as far away from a tree hugger as you can get tbh, ffs I eat rustlersbut the planet is healing on the back of this, the population is being thinned out, the worst has yet to come.

Nature, viruses and mortality care not a jot for , economics, money, status, wealth, politics, religion, football, or how many homes and cars you have.

I for instance have worked very hard to provide a good and happy life for my family by the time this plays out I may have to start all over again.

My point still stands. Regardless of the day or occasion I have never seen so many police on the streets for many years who have nothing better to do that patrol around hoping to catch someone not obeying these new rules.

And then applying their own interpretation of them.
