I don't have much of an issue with people being super rich . What I would like to see is a guaranteed minimum income that people can live on .
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Should that be a minimum wage for London, Cornwall, midlands so on. Once size will not fit all in that due to varying costs of living. Maybe city based rent control?

How do you ensure it is equal and fair for all?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pay London rates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then the guy in the north having a lower cost of living has more than the woman in London. Is that fair?

Better system than having to work out rents/mortgages for numerous areas. And cheaper to administer .
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But not fair, clearly to see. Why would someone relocate to London when they have a better standard of living up north. So key services will be hit.

Teaching has bands for city/London working.

It's really about lifting people out of poverty . I don't know what teachers starting rates are .
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why not so everyone to the same level based on the cost of living in that area.

Why someone in London getting less for their money than someone in Middlesbrough or Birmingham?

Billionaires money is a drop in the ocean, and ineffective.

BAE systems
Cobham plc
QuinetiQ
GKN
Eurofighter GmbH
Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group
Rolls Royce plc
Accuracy International
ELEY
Supacat
Babcock

Are amongst the UK registered organisations in a trillion dollar/euro/pound global industry that utilises its resources to manufacture equipment that is, at best, never going to be used and/or, at worst, only going to be used to kill and destroy.

Current engineering technologies would easily facilitate a rapid transition to jigs, tooling, machinery and processing of ALL the necessary resources needed to best help us deal with just the kind of scenario we are currently in.

But there's no profit in it.

I guess that's why the race to produce a vaccination is kind of a paradox. Whoever does provide one first will want to make money from it, and that won't sit well with many people. But it's that carrot and that competitive environment that will hopefully speed up the process.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah but lets face it, there will be billions of customers so they will inevitably cover their costs and make a big chunckachange too

Average house price in London is £670,000.

a 75% mortgage on that = £500k.

Repayment mortgage of £500k over 25 years = £2k a month.

the furlough max = £2500 per month, which will be taxed = £2000 after tax. Might just cover the mortgage but not the bills and money to feed yourself.

The ability to Mortgage holiday is critical in all this

Do they think they can take it all with them when they die? Or is just they want their offspring to echo their own lives?
What they should realise is that there wouldn’t be billionaires without the exploitation of poorer people so maybe they should pretend they care once in a while.

As individuals we all have a moral responsibility (like in a war) to do what we can to help the effort against this virus which is indiscriminate in who it attacks and kills. This is what HM The Queen was alluding to in yesterday's broadcast.

This includes the mega rich in our society (which yes, includes the Queen) So it is they themselves who must decide how best they can make their contribution.

Rich and powerful individuals and corporates should take a very hard look at how below UK average paid Nurses (a scandal) and Healthcare workers are currently fighting on the front-line saving lives in ridiculously dangerous conditions many even with a lack of correct PPE and testing made available for them and their families, and seriously think what they could be doing to help with just a small percentage of their vast wealth.

It should be the case that those who can , give the most or else this world is changing after this.
Choose wisely etc

But it won’t , it’s all pisssing in the wind
Humans can’t agree with each other out of principle or echo chamber so it won’t happen.

They prefer us divided into me v you
Not us v them

People get different incomes.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you propose a universal basic income, that doesn't account for cost of living...sounds about right!

Better than it is now
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well now there is a minimum living wage/wage for age. Is that fair against those in London as apposed to those in the lower cost north. Your living wage/Universal basic income is as flawed as this is. Zero hour contracts, should they also go?

I have stated my case
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Your ‘case’ is as flawed as the current minimum wage. The cost of living is not the same nationwide, the minimum wage is, it can’t be a set single value.

It has been demonstrated in several studies that the concept of philanthropic giving doesn’t translate to practice.

The people who give the highest proportions of their disposable incomes to charitable causes are society’s poorest, followed by the middle classes.
