Slow day in the Kingdom when we have to worry about Deli Alli versus Grealish.
We've got the better one of them, but.........
what we really neeed are 2 CB's, 2 Wing backs, 1 really good defensive mid, a replacement for NDombele, and a substitute for Kane.
7 new players.

Think Levy can handle that?

Dele could probably do with a change of club. Looks like he might need a wake up call, if he cares about football not just the money then surely hes thinking about it. Not that its Spurs fault, sometimes some players get to a point where they need a change to spark their career back to life.

Point is ....Spurs will have to be a new club whenever football starts up again!

I just think that if we have to sell a big name - I’d rather him than anyone else.
Not done it for, what 3 seasons now? Might just be 2.
I’ve really defended him against the overrated tag until this season - but I’ve had it with him since his performances this season, some truly awful displays of self-indulgence.

Not that simple. Levy always has unrealistic values on his players. There won’t be many clubs that interested in him because of that. Everton might throw some decent money at him, or Newcastle if their takeover goes through, so his options are limited.

Forget stats but from a stylish and Impact point of view Grealish is better. Would Dele be able to carry Villa in the same way Grealish has or any other team for that matter? I doubt it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dele has more than carried Spurs specially when Kane was injured.

Last year's semi-final at Ajax was an example of this. Dele gets slated sometimes because he's jovial and happy go lucky chappie.
People like to knock him down. He does have attitude problem that people like to wind him up.
Very unfair. For a young guy to have those stats speak volume. No even Gerrard or Lampard had those stats.
And yet people would "rather" have Jack

No substitute for what Dele can do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerrard was used in a more defensive role than Alli, earlier in his career but scored around 60 goals and had won won two FA Cups, two Leagues Cups, a UEFA Cup and a CL by the time he was 24.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

And very little, if anything afterwards.

My take as well.

Grealish is the best at football and can play in the most positions. Alli's movement and ability to improvise is great when he's on it but that isnt that often these days.

I'd have Grealish at Liverpool, wouldn't wamt Alli anywhere near us tbh.

WTF a tribute award?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Football Writers' Association Tribute Award (often called the FWA Tribute Award, or simply the Tribute Award) is given by the Football Writers Association to an individual that the committee feels has made an outstanding contribution to the national game.[1][2]

The award was first given in 1983, and was won by Ron Greenwood.

Right now Grealish is a better player than Alli.

Hard to argue that Alli has had the better career to date, but given his long term mediocrity that doesn’t count for much.

He’s probably playing for the wrong manager at this point in his career. His agent should be looking elsewhere.

posted on 16/4/20

If you dont mind. I still think hes an excellent player and agree with others on here that he possibly needs a fresh move. It could be a win win for both parties. He would still command a huge fee which could be reinvested.

Id have him at liverpool. Hes got real talent. You dont just lose that and at 24 has plenty of time to find his best form again.

A slightly similar situation possibly to oxlade chamberlain at arsenal who started to stagnate, took a move and found his feet again. Maybe dele could do with the same.

That being said if I were a spurs fan id want him to stay. Replacing a player of his quality is easier said than done no matter how much money you receive as my own club have found out on more than 1 previous occasion.

They say you either have to be very good at lots of things or exceptional at one thing and the latter rarely have long careers at the top.

I'm not sure Alli even has a position where as Grealish can play in loads of positions. I do think JG looks more influential as the side is built around him, you see the same with the likes of Siggurdson and Shaqiri at at Swansea and Stoke but there are games when Alli is so careless in posession and so anonymous in general and you dont really see that with Grealish.

In fact he's very hard to get the ball off especially now he's bulked out a bit. He looks like he thrives on responsibility and it looks like it has buried Alli.

Alli has somewhere like Everton written all over him.

Anyway whatever, I still prefer Dele over Grealish.
