I'm not dead!

Genuinely think I've had the 'it' though - dry cough, aching like hell, constant headache for about 7-8 days. Am finally feeling better! I was thinking it could have just been normal flu, but then I totally lost my sense of smell. Not a blocked nose, just totally unable to detect scent. Missus made a curry, couldn't smell anything other than warm air. Very odd.

I wasn't right for a few weeks at the back end of March, throat issues and tired etc but never had any fever or cough but who knows.

My Niece has had it but has not really struggled being a youngster.

No idea, not looked into it. For now i would rather just not worry about it and avoid having to go near a test center.

over here you cannot get tested unless ur in bad shape already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Is that what they are doing now? I gave up watching the news, too much BS. Only a matter of time before they start to slacken things off with this clown in charge.

yer, a friend of mine's mother is over 70, works as a medical assistant with close proximity too patients, is a high risk group as has her own medical conditions and they said she cud not have a test unless she was having significant symptoms.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

From what I understand, the tests they are using in the NHS only work if you are showing symptoms i.e. at the time when the viral load is at its highest. The test won't be sensitive to detect virus reliably if its before or after you present symptoms when the viral load is lower.

This means that its currently impossible to conduct wide scale population screening in the UK.

sensitive enough*

so testing is a crapshoot really.

---------------------

It depends on the test really. The antibody test is what you need to do population screening and not the antigen test which is what is used currently in the NHS. Typically the antibody tests will only pick up antibodies in your system 28 days after the infection has cleared.

No idea what style of tests they are using in Germany, but the fact they are carrying out so many suggests it has a better sensitivity and can be used reliably on a wider scale.

Just insane they still have no real idea, so many of these tests seem to be wrong or they test at wrong times or don't swab properly or enough etc or one minute it can be in your mouth but then gone for a few hours then it comes back.

Mates uncle in hospital was positive, thankfully made a recovery got discharged as tested negative then fell ill again couple days later took him back in and he was still positive ffs

They need to get a handle on it. Truth be told i think it's been here (UK) and pretty much worldwide since December and wouldn't surprise me if 70-80% of the population have had it, had some chest tightness and coldy symptoms in march so could of had it then and think my dad had it in december, endless coughing high temperature couldn't breathe properly, basically just slept for a whole week then thankfully felt better

posted on 21/4/20

makes me laugh they think they'll do 100k tests a day by april though or bigging up they increased it to 35k today yet in the last 24 hours we did our lowest testing amounts for 5 weeks of only 11,000 people Lol and some care home nurse bless her said she has symptoms but if she wants a test at a drive through the only way she'd have to drive 70 miles!!! And as she said even if she was prepared to do that she's to ill to drive there

posted on 21/4/20

add in they seem to list a new symptom of it every single day. They honestly have no idea
