I would imagine worst case scenario (more people that have had it already the better) that realistically at least 5 million in the UK have had it and if we use the 40,000 death rate without taking anything off for people that likely would have died or died because it contributed to their old age or 2-3 other underlying health conditions that still only gives us a death rate of 0.8% not 5%
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Love it how you dismiss 40,000 - forty thousand people dead, as only 0,8% died. You do realise that 40,000 people died, that werent supposed to die. It also means probably 400,000 thousand people are grieving now because they lost a loved one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Putting words in my mouth I said in an earlier comment it’s fkin $hit and horrible that anyone had to die but in the grand scheme of things it’s true a lot of these would of died regardless as per scientists and experts saying 2/3 of these deaths covid contributed as opposed to a direct cause of death and the fact 91% have had an underlying health condition with the average underlying health conditions being 2.7

And yes some younger people have died but they do die of flu as well you just don’t hear about it on front page paper. There was 22 deaths in under 18’s from flu in the last flu season, there’s been 10 so far 0-19 from covid
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who says the underlying condition would have killed them? Dont you think that Corona was actually the one that pushed them over the edge?

And in your comments you keep talking as if its fine anyway. Thats how you come across. You keep downplaying the deaths that are caused by this virus.

I don't understand any of this rationalization of numbers?!?!

The end of the day Covid is killing a lot of people on top of what would be the normal death rate, there are no comparisons to make.

New York have started testing parts of the general population. 3000 in one test area and it looks like 14% had signs of Covid in their system.

I think people hoping for those high numbers are living in a dream world just like those saying they had this virus in December.

There’s quite a lot of evidence to reasonably suspect there are quite massive amounts of asymptomatic spread, which is in line with the viruses calculated transmission rate

Wouldn't that 14% be people who currently have covid in their systems? Wouldn't count assymptomatic or mild symptom people who have already recovered? The real figure for that 3000 could be much higher

That 14% came from a test of assymptomatic people from what I understand. Don't quote me on that but I think that was the purpose of the test. So combined with general testing I guess you could argue 30% have had it. But again don't quote me on any of that.

Just wouldn't see the significance of 14% if it was no different to their normal testing.
