On 10 February, the govt strengthened powers for public health officials to quarantine people against their will, if necessary. People were already being forcibly quarantined coming off flights from China.

Public health advice issued in the first week of March instructed people with symptoms to self isolate, remaining at home.

Sporting events, including PL games, had already been suspended, as had public worship.

Nobody “closed the economy”. Larger parts of it are still fully functional.

I genuinely have no idea where you get this thought process from

Which parts of the economy are fully functional; let alone in large parts?

Where does this 50% number come from for feck sake

The US has given 6million tests and 1million positives came from that. So that alone is 17%.

They have also done sample size testings of 3000 and again the number was around 16% or so.

So I would assume the number infected is around 15-20% max, not 50%.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Gave tests to who though?

Those showing symptoms or volunteering for tests?

What about the many who have slight symptoms or put it down to something else?

This is why these guesses (and that is all they are) are totally meaningless.

A new clinical trial with a drug called remdesivir has shorten the recovery time by about 30% for people with the virus. It's not a preventative drug and we're a long way off before they find one, but it appears to be a start.

Maybe I over-egged the pudding a bit there

Some sectors appear to be largely unaffected in terms of investment/revenue or are actually doing better than projected.

Take your pick from insurance, pharma, various IT subsectors, gaming and online entertainment (including TV and streaming), communications, various educational subsectors, food delivery, food and beverage retail, parts of the fitness industry, various online retail subsectors (including furniture and home appliance retailers), some media subsectors, data modelling and services, etc.

You’ve now got police commissioners warning that a lifting of a lockdown will increase serious crime levels and rising.

You can see where this is going

None of our restrictions will be lifted on Tuesday. More likely on a phased process of lifting them with the premise that some could be reintroduced if necessary

Mattered diddly squat to me what politicos said prior to the call for social distancing, self isolation etc., it matters diddly squat what they say now (or anytime for that matter).

Having paid attention to smart honest and decent people during my years of formal education (in the 60/70s) and continued to do do ever since, I am more than aware of my personal and social responsibilities. And have the understandings required to have followed them DESPITE the advice or recommendations etc., of deceivers, idiots or haters that pretend to be our representatives.

I'll continue to be informed by the same honest, decent and smart folk now and and will do so beyond this current scenario.

Schools will need at least four weeks to prepare to reopen. The number of questions about how reopening schools will work is dizzying, you cannot social distance in a class with 30+ kids.
Then you have to ensure all nurseries open and to all kids, not just those whose parents are key workers. Many nurseries are only accepting kids whose parents are both ‘key workers’, so how can one parent work at home and look after kid whilst the other has to go to teach in a high risk environment.

This is just, albeit one of the most important, sectors that will require answers fir how it will work... you cannot just right things need to get going, everyone back in.

There's some new data out that kids hardly get the virus and they don't pass it on as much as adults.

So how is Coming out of Lockdown going in your locality. Up here in Lancashire, the roads are still very quiet. We still have the usual suspects not giving a damn. But overall it looks exactly the same as it did in first couple of weeks of lockdown 😊

This is total rubbish.
Kids do get the COVID-19 and it affects every organ in their bodies.

We need to start getting on with our lives. This virus will die away. I doubt people will be able to live like this for up to 18 months.
