Wiltord was a good player.

He’s most known for scoring the injury time equaliser for France in the Euro 2000 Final vs Italy - which France won in extra time.

I also remember him scoring a penalty for France when they lost the 2006 World Cup Final shootout vs Italy.

He joined after Anelka left, and Bergkamp was old, so he played quite a lot. Mainly as a support striker to Henry.

He was good player but not world class or anything. Similar level to someone like Firmino.

Wiltord at the time was our record signing and came with high expectations that he never really fulfilled

But he scored the winner at OT to win us the league so he was worth the fee for that goal alone

It wasn’t necessarily the overriding factor. In these circumstances the death threats are very rarely literal, it’s just stupid people mouthing off. I very much doubt he was fearing for his life.
