Missing Cricket

I no longer play but the best part for me was the social side of it. I was single when I did play and would love a lock-in on a Saturday night.

I was more of a batter as I got older, and used to open. If we batted first and I was out early (most of the time) then the rest of the match felt over, although like you, I enjoyed fielding. Mainly at cover and mid-wicket.

Been playing in the garden with kids. Batting is too easy that I get bored and give them catching practice.

Getting cricket back on is an odd one. It all pins down to the saliva and sweat which goes on the ball. It's become part of the game to get reverse swing.

Crowds have never been an issue in county cricket.

I have been enjoying the vodcasts on sky with Hussain and Keys ripping each other.

I am playing regularly inspite lockdown in place, right now auditing at school so they have ample space for cricket so play with colleagues. Without cricket, no life. Natural inswinger, have to practice hard to get out swing and decent with bat too

I am a league cricketer (village level) and am missing a game on a Saturday. I miss the match and the banter in the dressing room with the lads and down the pub after the game.

I am missing watching the professional game also, the vodcasts on Sky have been a good watch though and I hope they do more of them.

Exercise/Sport I am missing most is swimming, its easily one of the best exercises and most enjoyable in summer in parts of world where avg temp is 35 centigrade.

If you are bored and I means really bored then you have 45 minutes to name the 228 batsman wicket Jimmy has taken.

Well yes, but football is returning in mid June, so why not cricket?

ECB are hopeless. How they cant arrange cricket when another sport which requires multiple body contact is starting in 3 weeks is ridiculous.

Far more important things than sport, ICC is wise if they are not allowing any events to take place in forseeable future.

The ECB have named a big squad for a return to training (but no Hales):

They are playing cricket in the West Indies right now.

Winter in NZ, Aus and SA

Pak, India, SL and Bang it is too hot to play cricket now

They should be playing county cricket now. County cricket has been social distancing for years now (stole that from cricinfo)

I'm guessing football has enough revenue from TV to continue to play without crowds.

Can cricket? The T20 format is the biggest cash generator for counties due to the "large" crowds in attendance.
