But how can you make the Lost Boys, St Elmo’s Fire, and Falling Down... and then make Batman & Robin? Seriously?
It seems he just decided, “I’ve directed some very decent and critically acclaimed films the last few years. But what if... and bear with me here... I just started making utter drivel instead?” [strokes chin]

I suppose historically Shawshank fits this bill perfectly...was very underwhelming when it came out in 94 was it...it's on many peoples top 10 now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it was underrated and now it's anything but.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
isnt it usually rated the best movie of all time?
not exactly underrated imo, iirc, bohic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the highest rated movie on IMDB, so yeah far from underrated now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nomination for 7 Oscars...won none
Nomination for golden globes won none
Just saying
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It should have won more awards at the time, although it was a strong year.
Rogue is a decent movie (one for you in Aus there Robb)
Twin Town is one from the UK for MU52. Overshadowed somewhat by Trainspotting but I thought it was Ace. It was also funny for me seeing some Welsh actors who are on S4C in pretty staid roles swearing.
Somebody mentioned Count of Monte Cristo earlier and the Jim Caviezel film was terrific I though. A great yarn.

Yeah, strikes me as day time tv melodrama. Clean cut highly polished non threatening prisoners trying to capture our hearts.
Not my thing.
Not sure how it's rated but Leon is one of my all time faves. Brilliant performances, great action scenes, compelling story.
Heat is a fantastic action movie. I believe it held the record for rounds fired on-screen for years.
Baby Driver's good fun too. If it weren't for Kevin Spacey I'd have watched it a bunch more times.

Loved León back in the day. Last I watched it I found Oldmans performance a bit cringeworthy.
Haven’t watched heat since I saw it in the cinema. Might have to give it a go tonite.
Drivers a great wee movie. Bit of action, bit of cool, bit of romance. A little reminiscent of True Romance in that respect. Soundtrack is one of the better characters in the movie

The deniro and Pacino heat?
LA takedown is what that copies and I preferred o we heat tbh
Kevin Smith (mallrats, clerks) also did Dogma which I think is his best movie. Also liked chasing Amy and clerks 2
Manfrom
I'll have to watch it again, but I guess he was a bit OTT.
Joe.. yes
A bit more on the moral side tbh. I never liked him anyway but now I can't help thinking about what a slimy caant he is while watching it, kind of detracts from the experience.

Yeah Pacino's thing is shouting init. I thought he was great in Devil's Advocate, played up to the shouty arrshole shtick.
Bales, fair enough. I try and separate the artist from the person in these discussions
