I've always followed Leeds since a young boy but tribalism has never interested me, don't understand why a football match should descend into violence...I don't particularly like some clubs but being violent towards their fans has never occurred to me, just want to watch the game
Sympathies with Ian's parents.

Yes probably the most violent game I have been to. And I've seen a few.

Agree with that, worst violence I ever seen. So many memories from that day.

Parked up and a little Brummie lad came up to my mate and said I'll watch your car...the 3 of us give him all our loose change, maybe a couple of quid.

Queuing to get into the ground a police horse backed up and stood on my mates foot, he yelled out and put his hands on the horse...copper pulled out his stick and told him to get his feckin' hands off the horse. Luckily there was a crowd surge and the horse was pushed off.

Inside the ground I remember what looked like a shed selling snacks, they closed down and Leeds fans started ripping it apart and throwing the debris on the pitch. The violence inside the ground was unbelievable, it should have been abandoned 5 minutes after the whistle.

Got back to the car and driver's window had been smashed and radio gone. We were just telling a copper and the little lad that was supposed to be looking after it appeared, cop had him empty his pockets and give it to the driver. Feel a bit sorry for him now, he got a bollocking from the cop.

I remember somebody said a wall had collapse, but didn't know of the tragedy until the next day.

It was the 80's, we had a bad hooligan element, Brummies were no angels, and the Police were up for it too.

RIP Ian, nobody should ever not come home from a game.

Very sad about this poor boy and his family, but Jonty don't compare those low lives 'humans' who are responsible) to animals, that is an insult to the animal kingdom, animals don't behave like that and don't throw darts at humans, so be careful with your comments !!
