I think everyone apart from Jonty now realises that’s the FA have confirmed to the PL that null and void is off the table.

Not sure what more he wants other than maybe a personal letter from them ?

Joking apart I’m sure someone will issue a statement in due course.

This could lead to some complicated legal challenges whichever way it goes from Premier and Championship clubs. A dose of financial realism will probably settle the season so that the minimum damage is done to football.
But don't hold your breath.

It just looks likely to me that the Premiership season will continue at some point. With the primary reason being to save the clubs from going bust.

I am less sure about the Championship, mainly due to the shocking broadcasting deal agreed by Shaun Harvey. Had he negotiated a decent deal the Championship would stand to lose a lot more revenue from not playing.

If the Championship season cannot continue it looks almost certain we will be promoted.

I would still prefer to risk it and get to celebrate promotion while watching on telly, although by full time I wonder how much I will be able to see anyway.

People keep using legal challenges to as a reason to direct opinion on the most likely outcome. I don't think this helps because every single possible outcome will face plenty of expensive legal challenges anyway. There is no way of avoiding this so there's not much point considering it.

there are potential legal challenges at every turn, but clearly cracks within football, I see Danny Rose has really offloaded about the restart.

Everyone in football is going to suffer if they can't reach some consensus, shouting their mouths off like this at this time, helps no one.

posted on 12/5/20

There won't be a consensus though.

Clubs will look want what's best for themselves. This is more than understandable. And what's best for some clubs will always contradict what's best for others.

I know Danny Rose and friends are scared, but so are people going shopping!..

It is a wonder though, how many of these people are sticking to the rules while locked away in their homes?..

They're scared of getting it from somewhere where the upmost will be done for their safety, which will be at a higher standard than most of their homes, where I'll bet some are having people visit them at home that are not supposed to be there, or even visiting people that they shouldn't be!..

Oh sorry, some have already been caught out!..

If anything is passed on, it must be coming from people that haven't done things the way they should be doing around the home!..

Throughout all of the lockdown there have been a lot of people continuing to go work. Those that work in factories, deliveries, supermarkets, construction, security and many other sectors have continued. The vast majority of those have just got on with it.

This is different to football in that close contact can be avoided as much as possible and the risk is lower in that regard. But footballers will be tested regularly unlike any of the above which will mean the risk level is likely below any of the above who have been going to work from day 1 of lockdown.

This doesn't mean I do not have sympathy with anyone worried about the virus. Completely understandable. But it's also not that radical to accept the risk. Footballers are going to be following on from what millions of others have been doing for weeks with better protection.

If a footballer or any worker for that matter does not feel comfortable with the risk then it should be, and is the choice of that individual to turn up to work or take furlough.

Here in the USA we see people walking around without masks and/or gloves thereby increasing the risk to themselves and others of being exposed to the virus. I’m not just referring to the White House when describing this selfish and ignorant behavior.

This puts people working in grocery stores in additional risk to hundreds of people each day.

Isn’t this obvious?

I hope the deferral rather than cut doesn’t come back to hurt us but yes good to see us leading the way there.

Haven’t read it, is it good?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I suspect the referral would be changed to a cut if necessary when the time comes.

The book’s complete title suggests it is only about the number of times Leeds appeared to get hard done by in certain key games by the authorities and/or match officials.

However, it also includes background pieces about key personalities behind theses stories. I am currently reading about Don Revie’s playing career. Very good in parts!
