Newcastle Takeover & FFP

If you're not in Europe, you don't have to worry about FFP too much. The PL have their own version but I believe it is slightly more relaxed. I believe they are allowed to lose £100m+ over the course of three years. Effectively they could go out and blow £300m on players in year one and recoup £200m of that over the coming years with player sales, sponsorship etc. having made profit the last couple of years.

Wow, I did not know that.

So many loopholes everywhere!

By the time Newcastle become a top 4 team, it's highly likely they'll have someone on the UEFA board so FFP won't be a problem.

Worked for PSG.

they have a fairly large stadium and a good fan base so if they invest in a team worth paying to watch their profits will increase dramatically etc anyway, then if they start making cl places and higher up in league they get more money and no doubt theyll do a City and have some saudi cousin sponsor their stadium for a silly inflated price 600m for 5 years or sumin.

Amazing how clubs like Chelsea, Man City and now Newcastle are being taken over by these dubious sugar daddies. You have to blame the Prem League though for allowing it to happen. You cannot really blame the clubs.

And where would that get Newcastle?

Not far.

debateable, depends how well they spend. I remember Chelsea and City at the start of their spends, they got a long wrong but at the same time they couldnt attract the best either so took them a while to get to a point where they got to. Will be harder to keep chucking money at it than it used to if it goes wrong so they will have to get more purchases right the first time around.

Sorry mate, but I wouldn`t want that murderous regime anywhere near WHL.

Surely the journalists/media making these claims know more about FFP than the average man and wouldn't bother making such farcical claims even if we know they tend to bend the truth sometimes...
-----
I think they would make farcical claims if it generates clicks and revenue. They do it all the time actually.

Inbefore (U20589)

But the point TOOR was making would then lead to a cease in that sort of spending, before the money starts to come in.

The money won't come in very quickly if their new signings get them competing for top 8.

I'm sure these rich people will try to find a way around it though.

Probably not initially, depends on the recruitment, luck etc. Certainly they'd be better off than they are now and they could build on that over the next FFP period.

posted on 14/5/20

Also they could upgrade the stadium or build a new one which I don't believe counts against FFP.

But unless they can significantly increase their income, that scenario doesn't play out with further spending.

Do they really need a new stadium?

Well you would think with the money behind them, the better players they can bring in, that their sponsorships would greatly increase. I read their sponsorships are up at the end of the season. Surely their income would beat Leicester and Wolves, for example who are up the top competing for Europe, having spent significant amounts of money.

posted on 14/5/20

They will just do what Man City have done, and find a dodgy way to sponsor themselves to the tune of 100`s of millions or pounds.

Maybe, I struggle to see it though.

It'll need to be far more gradual and do wealthy owners have the patience?
