Juventus 3-2 Celtic

I watched it living down at the south of England. It was a just a couple of weeks before my 21st. I remember the game but some of the incidents like the red card I had forgotten

Two weeks later we beat Rangers which was the day after my 21st party and I was steaming the whole weekend.

I was seeing a nutjob from Yorkshire who announced to my family on my 21st party that we were engaged. Surprisingly we split up not long after. She tried to keep us going saying "was it the engagement? Let's go back to just going out"

Absolute nutter

Was the game on TV?

I think I remember the MON interview ? Is that where he's saying
Big juventus with their superstars against wee us ..

I just really remember the Amoruso dive .....brutal
But why the ref gives a penalty I'll never know

Was that ref not later found to be on the take?

I get Andy walkers take on diving and I agree with it

Alot of people think he's all for diving ...he isn't really

What he says is that ...for example
if a defender leaves a big leg out in the box then you've got the right to use that to your advantage
He's not saying throw yourself down at anything , but why not exploit such things as pulling and being clipped

EVERY footballer does it ...not one who hasn't used the dark arts to thier advantage

I'm not sure why there is a big deal about that at all

yeah CT I agree with you just thought it was funny listening to him saying it was a dive, he'd be applauding it nowadays

Paul Elliot with him in the studio, he was on the BBC for all the old league games as well which have been on

can't remember that being the case either

I have a theory on diving. Well not so much diving but the perceived cheating. The trying to win a decision knowing full well it wasn't in your favour.

Everyone abhor's diving apart from when your own team do it and win a penalty and then you just shrug and say it makes up for when x player did it against us.

Why is this different from shouting for a corner or a throw in knowing it came off you last. That is the same as trying to con the ref into making a decision that you know is wrong.

It seems we as fans like to pick and choose what cheating we class as cheating and what is part and parcel of the game

I seen clips of Celtic beating Dundee Utd to win the double in 88. Some of the challenges then resulted in opposition players picking each other up and getting on with it. Nowadays the players would still be rolling about or fake fighting with each other

see if we won a game 1-0 and if was down to one of our players cheating to win it

diving to win a penalty
handball

I wouldn't be happy

unless it was against Rangers

I've had the same thoughts. But I decided it's wrong but not to the same extent. Shoplifting and gbh are both wrong but one is worse than the other.

Claiming a throw or corner might get you the ball. But it's a call the referee can get wrong even if no one claims. A dive can provide a scoring chance and a booking or even red.

No difference at all as you say

Both are done in order to gain an advantage and every footballer does it

Only difference is the scrutiny that we align to it

No I don't

I was reminded of his abilities though in the 4-3 game re-run when he was given for offside but his dink over Douglas is spunk inducing

Trezequet's goal at Parkhead was a thing of beauty.

They way he strikes the ball makes me weak at the knees.
