Wouldn’t say by a distance. We had some bang average sides in Fergie’s latter years. At times I felt he was trying to see how poor he could make the squad and still win it.

Utd 12/13

Copy and paste my thoughts from a similar article posed a few weeks ago:

16/17 Chelsea was a thought I had seeing this. It’s weird, don’t get me wrong, one of my favourite seasons for us, so consistent, good football. I really rate Conte for what he managed that season.

But, one of the reasons I rate what Conte did that season so much, is I don’t even rate the squad he inherited at all, at least to be title challengers. The man won the league with 90+ points with bums/past-it Cahill, Moses, Alonso and Matic being key players.

I wasn’t really surprised to us revert back to I think we ‘should’ have been in the league next season through combination of barely strengthening and Conte losing motivation/becoming unhappy.

Won it at a canter. Would have surpassed 90 points if they had needed to. Unlucky to go out to a very good Real Madrid side in the CL.

I have to disagree with you there.

Who would we say is the best not to win the league?

Top of my list would be Liverpool last season, then maybe Liverpool ‘09 then probably one of the Arsenal teams during the 99-01 period, probably 99 was closest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ya probably one of three Liverpool sides. 08/09, 13/14 or 18/19.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
13/14 ones defence n gk tho would probably have gone down as worst defence to have won it if they did?

Such an entertaining side though. Not as good overall but much more enjoyable than the current machine like version of Liverpool.

The Utd 96/97 team lost quote a few from what I remember. The season when Schmeichel kept getting lobbed.

I remember the first half vs Arsenal at Anfield that season. One of the best attacking performances I’ve ever witnessed.

Leicester won it in 15-16 - they almost went down in 14-15.

They probably are the "worst" team to win it in that nobody would have looked at their first XI in August and even dreamed they could do it. In terms of least memorable title wins, our own 2010-11 campaign was generally pretty forgettable.

Ya 10/11 wasn’t great at all. Nani and Berbatov had their moments at times early on but both fizzled out as the season went on.

Rooney had a few moments in the 2nd half of the season but overall no one really stood out.

It’s amazing how that side won the league and reached a CL (admittedly had a favourable run to the final though)

Unbeaten in the league until February as well.

Yeah that's right Leicester by a distance, Jamie Vardy broke (and still holds) the Premier League record for consecutive games scored in that season for Leicester.

N'Golo Kante was incredible and did the work of three players played for Leicester that season only to be signed at the end of the season by the next season's winners due to a release clause (we don't insert them anymore, you want one of our players you pay through the nose for them)

Riyad Mahrez was a part of the Leicester side that season, now playing for the current League Champions and a player you can only dream of playing for you.

So yeah, Leicester by a distance in your Leicester hating mind, don't deny it, your posting history say's it all

Read somewhere that Leicester had less possession than the opposition in 33 out of 38 games, meaning that even the relegated teams outplayed them on occasion. Incredible title win and they we're a good team with some star talent.

You named three good players, well done. You also had players that built careers in the championship. You tried to give us drinkwater for free the season before you won the title ffs.

As for Mahrez, one of the most overrated players of all time.

That suggests Leicester are the worst team to win the league. Having a player who has to make up for 2 others doesn't scream great team.

The league as a whole was utterly crap for that season. Utd lost like 6 games? Could be wrong here.
Also conceded 40+ goals if I remember correctly.

Only 3 players stood out that season. RVP, Suarez & Bale.
