Great points Sandy.
There are extreme idiots who will do whatever they want regardless of advice off the situation.
Then there's the majority....the common or garden idiot. They just don't accept that a virus like this can be so dangerous. They need very clear and specific advice. They haven't had that.
Too many mixed messages from Boris and crew. That's why beaches are busy.
They needed to have strict limits on how far from home we can travel, enforced by police road blocks.
Quite embarrassing to see how many people are so idiotic in this country.
The absolutely thing the Government could ever have done was to say you could go out for unlimited time, and to wherever you want. It was basically given a green light to say all is OK, and the danger has passed. When it clearly has not.
Not defending it but people are allowed to go to the beach. Furthermore, yes the beaches looked busy but each group was 2 metres apart. People ate flowing the rules set out so I don't actually blame the people at the beach.

The same people on the beach will probably moan when an influx of strawberry pickers come from abroad. The mentality of the majority race in this country sinks to new lows. Didn't see hardly any members of the public from BAME groups in those pictures.

Dude, people have to take responsibility for their own actions. People were flooding to beaches / beauty spots etc during lockdown
You call these people idiots because that is exactly what they are, unable to use any common sense or intellect in making decisions about where & how they spend their afternoon in the sunshine.
The annoying thing is ordinarily natural selection would take care of these peoples but it is probably their elderly grandparents or some random person that would suffer as a consequence.
I'm so glad I live in Wales where we're talking a more cautious approach. Beaches here were virtually empty apart from a few joggers and dog walkers.

Agree about these noobs yesterday, few weeks to early but then what do you expect when government says it ok. I don't think we will ever go in "lockdown" ever again no matter what happens, it's just not viable or cost effective and didn't really get proven to make any difference whatsoever (was mainly as a result of social distancing / hygeine etc).
Don' think we'll have a second wave as such either, most coronavirus' just burn themselves out naturally after a couple of months so i imagine it will cease to exist by end of june

Slightly contradictory post to be honest. Saying it was a few weeks too eetly but then going on to say it's not proven or viable.
Plus, I am certain this won't just burn itself out.

I would hope it does burn out Oscar, but I doubt it
Some people are idiots definitely. But it is certainly not inevitable that we will be back to square one.
Herd immunity, we 'survived' the first wave without, thankfully, having to rely on the Nightingale hospitals, the NHS wasn't overstretched.
Now onto to stage 2, get a few more infected and we go again in the hope that the mythical immunity has increased and the 2nd wave will be lesser.

Not inevitable, but a really good chance. Looking at those pictures of the people on the beach yesterday, that could have been pre lockdown.
Its half term next week so homeschooling will go out the window, and many parents will time off booked.
You think this is bad, and the weather is looking hot again next week.

Half-term means MPs get another two weeks holiday, what a joke. In the middle of the biggest crisis, the MPs get another two weeks holiday, after only just going back. Are they for real.

I fully disagree with the comment "the NHS were not stretched". The government keep saying this as if only Covid is all the NHS is there to deal with. Alot of cancer treatments have been delayed, aswell as 100s (if not 1000s) of other services. I have a friend who had 2 lumps in her breast, stage 2 and stage 3 cancer. She had the operation to remove before and chemo and radiotherapy but had further operations which have been delayed indefinitely.
That's not even going into where people aren't going to hospital/doctors for other things. Cancer diagnosis is currently 75% down on normal figures.
The NHS is coping with corona, yes. But that's because it had pretty much halted most other services.
Hi Sandy. You mentioned that the idea of lockdown was to keep the virus at bay. Would everyone going to the beach not help acheive this?
