Hi Sandy. You mentioned that the idea of lockdown was to keep the virus at bay. Would everyone going to the beach not help acheive this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well no, if they were all in close proximity to each other, spreading the virus, Einstein.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sandy..... "Bay" and "beach". That was Barry's joke.

Sandy, I have not seen the beach photos you're complaining about.
Generally speaking, in outdoors situations, IF people who do not belong to the same family group or living together arrangement, are spaced out at 2 meters apart, I think it is relatively low risk,........ as compared with a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd in the stadium.
Now, there's an "IF" in that statement!
Of course one should always have a mask handy, preferably an N95, and be prepared to put it on if spacing deteriorates.

I, myself am going to risk getting on a plane again for a 6 hour flight in a month's time. But I am flying JetBlue, and they guarantee you will not sit next to anyone you are not related to. And the wearing of masks is mandatory throughout the flight.

Morons and people's inability to use common sense are what will cause a second wave , I just think a second wave is inevitable.

Agree about these noobs yesterday, few weeks to early but then what do you expect when government says it ok. I don't think we will ever go in "lockdown" ever again no matter what happens, it's just not viable or cost effective and didn't really get proven to make any difference whatsoever (was mainly as a result of social distancing / hygeine etc).

Don' think we'll have a second wave as such either, most coronavirus' just burn themselves out naturally after a couple of months so i imagine it will cease to exist by end of june
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would hope it does burn out Oscar, but I doubt it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? I’m quite naturally a worrier and I certainly wouldn’t want to go near a beach/plane/pub or restaurant for at least a few months after it does end but the fact is pretty much all coronavirus burn themselves out to near non existence eventually, very rare you hear of SARS or other similar ones anymore, I’d be very surprised if this one doesn’t near enough cease to exist in a few months unless this one is going to suddenly change the whole landscape of the coronavirus genes randomly.

Plus the amount of people that have actually had it asymptomatically is likely at a minimum 10 million just in the U.K. and with the rules/hygiene now in place it’s very tough for a spread to continue at the same levels as it’s gone through so many people already it will run out of hosts.

Saying it will come back seasonally is completely unfounded & untrue based on the historic evidence of viruses in the same family. People/Media are hell bent on comparing this to the Spanish Flu which is nothing like this.

You won’t see it reported either because it’s good news but London has reported no deaths for 3 days and no cases for the last 2 days and under 25 cases for the 4 days prior to that. Seems like it’s burned itself out in London but it’s the north that is the hot bed now and will take another month to Peter out up there

Bare in mind at the peak March/April, London was getting 200,000 - 300,000 cases a day reported / people told to self isolate on the 111 number

Not being funny but how do you stop a single Northern super-spreader coming into Kings Cross? Should anyone north of the Watford Gap be barred from the capital until it burns itself out oop yonder?

Don't understand the UK...... The second the sun comes out you all seem totally obsessed with socializing in public burning your pasty white skin, taking no regard for social distancing etc. I keep seeing pics full of people of people on public transport not wearing masks and your major gripe seems to be about when pubs will re open & whether you can take your annual summer pi55 up to Ibiza this summer ??... Just bizarre. You then spend hours bitching about a government while championing a healthcare service, which while free (I'm afraid you get what you pay for) is grossly under-prepared at the first sign of a serious problem..... Funny bunch.. no wonder the rest of Europe is pointing the figure at the UK.....You don't exactly help yourself... I fear the second wave over there isn't far off and it'll be groundhog day all over again

I think those people going to the beach are fully expecting another wave or 2. The only way to avoid waves and stay dry is to STAY AT HOME, SAVE LIVES & PROTECT THE NHS

posted on 21/5/20

People are just plain stupid. I dont understand why people need to go to the beach when there is a bit of sun.

What we need is a prolonged period of torrential rain to keep people indoors. The one time that bad weather would probably be highly beneficial in this country, I bet it doesn't come.

Meanwhile plenty of people are working on low wages and getting no bonus for working in lockdown. All 5 of my family including myself are key workers and have worked during the whole lockdown. Our neighbours were having pool parties yesterday, they only moved in 2 weeks ago ffs

99% of people talking about a "second wave" have no facking idea about medical science. Just spouting what they've heard in the fear mongering media

Plus considering just how low the death rate is amongst under 50’s (under 60 for women) you can’t really justify a continued lockdown for these people after 2 months. Damage becomes greater from the effect of a lockdown than the virus for these age categories

Not sure that is correct. The medical experts and scientists are saying there may well be a second wave as well. The media are just reporting what they are saying. Nothing at all to do with scaremongering.

Should have a limit on how much people can travel to exercise / be outside etc.

Think Ireland have a 5km limit which is gradually being widened which should help solve the problem, as quite frankly, people are just taking the pisss traveling for hundreds of miles for beaches and national parks.

The bank holiday will be a shiitshow iin terms of spreading the virus f the weather turns out ok.
