Alec Guinness another great shout

You will never, ever see a poor Richard Attenborough performance. Never seems to get a mention but his best work was a long time ago now I guess.

Alan Rickman

Love Rickman but he's not a lead either really. No shame in that but much like Oldman I don't think he'll ever be fully recognised as anything other than support.

There are so many talented people listed but I do think DDL, De Niro and Di Caprio are on another level to most mentioned on here.

Oh I wamt to add Joaquin Phoenix. He's doing insanely good performances now and I do think Casey Affleck will become regarded in the same light. Manchester by the Sea is gut wrenching.

Great movie that bar the dreadful Irish accents, there's a good documentary about the making of it too.

Maybe not a great actor but I thought Will Smith was brilliant in The Pursuit Of Happyness

Surprised to not see one mention for my current favourite actor, Jake Gyllenhaal.

Amazing performances in movies such as
..

Nightcrawler
Prisoners
Zodiac
Southpaw
Enemy
End of Watch
Nocturnal Animals
Brothers
Brokeback Mountain
Donnie Darko

Made it that far before I started falling asleep. That guy bores me to death with his boring performances.

Some great shouts for fine actors, i agree with Robbing though, main men are different from run-of-the-mill.

Leo di caprio has grown as a leading man, Brad Pitt has too, used to just being a pretty boy, I'll throw in Clooney too forhis range, for Good night and good luck to O brother where art though

Just saw George in, The American, if you fancy a gentler tale of the hit man, and some great scenery and camerawork.

Plus lovely ladies.

It's a beautifully shot film short on dialogue and ultimately plot. It's a decent watch though.
