Yeah; I think that is a fair assessment. I would like to see the season played out though (if safe to do so) just because I am so bored during lockdown. Even behind closed door games would be fine.

we're on target to have the highest points total in England ever

So yeah we do deserve it.

Manu, have a read of yesterday’s Independent, reporter, good at his job, first name Miguel (he has an Irish surname, can’t remember it) on the tops six clubs, where the rest are, where they’re all headed. Not good news.

Now with the FA affectively looking for the PL clubs to bail out the lower leagues to the tune of £200M, it confirms the reporter’s fears.

Yes, no question, we are the worthy, very worthy winners of the PL this season. But with that article, and the FA’s wish in mind, where’s football headed?

Of course OP.

I think anyone saying differently must be on the wum.

And whilst it’s not easy to watch, they have gone about it in a way that has to be applauded.

They’re too big a club to be without a title for as long as they have and the real shame for me is that we’re not fighting them for titles ourselves.

Don't really know any fans that would argue this.

Liverpool deserve to be Champions - Reason it may seem forgotten is because it has been a forgone conclusion since, what, October?

United fans have been pretty fair to be honest. The only base that has a problem appears to be Spurs fans.

Yeah Liverpool definitely deserve to be champions. Like Winston, I just wish we were challenging them. Maybe we will in the not to distant future. Who knows.

Yup they deserve the chance to win it outright. If not then they should probably be given it anyway.

Miguel Delany you're thinking of Jimmy, he can be a bit OTT at times but has written loads on the potential formation of a super league and middle Eastern owners.

A few more good signings like Bruno and you could well be challenging soon, looked much slicker with Bruno linking it all up and you've a good attack and defense.

Think you'll find I covered this subject here - https://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/421688

I have always found the majority of Man United fans here decent to discuss football with the exception of one or two but we all have them here on JA606.

I may not talk on behalf of all United supporters but I wouldn't begrudge Liverpool the title at all. The balance of probability (which is something they use in disciplinary cases I believe) suggests they would win it.

I do also think it would be pretty hilarious if they were denied it and I'd expect most LFC fans to feel the same if the roles had been reversed.

Decent football writer but an absolute spoofer when it comes to transfer news. Blocked me on twitter for calling him out over it.

I know a few journalists personally. They are a temperamental bunch. The ones I know at least.

They have long ago become fed up of people accusing them of making things up.

The truth is, they don’t make anything up. They report on things (rumours) they hear. Any criticism that come their way they regard as a “don’t shoot the messenger” criticism. I.e. you’re being critical towards the wrong person.

There is a certain validity in that.

But that is countered when they write opinion pieces. Criticise them on that and they really lose their shiiitt. They work in the industry you see, and by virtue they know more than you do you see!

Truth is, what they are good at is writing. No more no less. They are good writers. That’s it.

posted on 24/5/20

But how come the likes of Fabrizio Romano generally only report on facts? Better sources? Or do the others just report on anything they hear to sell a story?

posted on 24/5/20

Some have more integrity than others.

It is a massively ego-driven industry. They will (they almost have to) shiiiit over anyone to get a story, and if they (and the editors) think it will sell, integrity goes out the window.

They simply don’t care whether its true or not, for they can hide behind their “source told them so”. After all, they are just reporting it.

By and large a horrible group of egomaniacs. Who can’t stand criticism. They to a man elicit a “I know more than you, and you know nothing” attitude.

Some have integrity. Some have great opinions. Some are incredible writers. Some get lucky. Some become very respected. But all, without no exception, have stepped on the toes and abused their position to try and earn a respected reputation.

posted on 24/5/20

That’s why I can’t stand the likes of Delaney. Creates a transfer story but never actually commits to it and says it will happen.

Then when it doesn’t happen he just backtracks and says he never said it was for definite and gives a reason as to why it didn’t happen that no one can prove wrong anyway.

Transfer stories are just that, stories. Press hear stuff and report on it, could be multiple different links in the transfer chain that leak stuff for whatever reason.

I only really listen to Paul Joyce, Mel Ready or James Pearse for Liverpool transfers.

Those like Romano generally tend to be on the money. They must know what they are reporting on is pretty factual.

The others must know they are just spreading mostly rubbish.

so many years and they really don't get that feel of a real title - it's got to be painful.

You have to feel sorry for Pool, this was meant to be theirs (and VAR`s) big moment, but the shine has been completely taken off it.

Whatever happens, the season has been tarnished and will have a huge caveat hanging over it`s authenticity forever.

This season will go down in history as nothing short of a faux championship.

Do me a favour, there would still be a title race if the officials did their jobs properly and without bias. Man Utd would also be in the bottom half of the table.
