Who’s better?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Given he’s only played about 20 mins it’s hard to say yet. I’d suggest you guys chill a bit, Di Maria started well also and now he’s reviled

Di Maria didn’t start this well. He had 2 or 3 good games and it fell apart. He never wanted to be in England anyway. Bruno looks like he has the attitude and ability to succeed.

His attitude and workrate are arguably two of his biggest attributes. A creative player but works his ass off defensively. Different players but not dissimilar to Firmino at Liverpool in that regard

Id have Soyuncu (sp) over Gomez. Harvey Barnes keeps flying under the rader too. Six goals and six assists in 20 starts (7 sub apps).

Surprised you’d go with Soyuncu over Gomez.

Barnes is a good player but wouldn’t have him over Rashford or Sterling.

Harvey Barnes was really beginning to look the park before the lockdown. Leicester have some very very good young players. The biggest problem for them will obviously be replacing Vardy

*the part. He looks nothing like Park 😂

Gomez hasnt had a great season tbh. Started very patchy. It's tight but I think for the first six months Soyuncu was excellent.

Agree about Rashford over Barnes and your team really. Just throwing his name in cos he doesnt seem to get much mention. I like him but not sure what his ceiling is.

He’s looked very good since coming back into the team which has coincided with your best defensive run if I’m not mistaken. I often think he looks almost equal to Van Dijk.

Barnes is a good player who will go on to have a decent career I think but not sure he’s an elite talent.

but then he sorted the shaky defence out and the cb partnership of him and virgil was looking solid again, showing how underrated he was last season with most credit going to virgil. Soyuncu has been great for his age etc but Evans has been clearly the better of the 2 for me. with laporte being out injured too and almost 26 it'd prob be fairer to go with gomez and soyuncu anyway.

Sane would be in there if your putting laporte in there.

Yeah Barnes is quite underrated. Leicester have a good player. He will quite easily get 10-15 goals a season if/when he reaches his peak, even if he frustrates at the same time. His movement is excellent and just comes naturally, like Sterling

posted on 24/5/20

Yeah his late movement into the box is boss. Not unhappy with any of the suggestions.

On Evans > Soyuncu

Partnerships are ever so important and I get why people would say Evans is better but Soyuncu is rapid. I mean VERY quick and I'm of the opinion that he helps Evans out just as much as the other way around. He's dece in the air too. I know which one I'd have in our back line for a one off game though given our high line.

My choice goes down to this season and amount of football played really.

Worried that Barnes could just become another Barkley. Amazing promise to start with some eye catching performances. Realistically not going to get near the England set up with the current set of players though. Potential to float around in Maddison’s shadow is well.

posted on 24/5/20

Honestly should be in the conversation to be for the england squad already as the 4th choice wide player instead of CHO, McNeil too

posted on 24/5/20

I will never understand BR playing Maddison wide. He did it with Firmino too and it's never worked from what I've seen. Even worse he tends to do it in big games and then get turned over.

As such I dont see Maddison crowding out Barnes. Also a fan of Barkley skill set wise. In fact on paper he's world class where as I dont think Barnes has that technique in his locker which is why he'll never play centrally imo. What Barnes does have is a great attitude, industry and an understanding of football technically. He's got great balance and acceleration and is not a bad striker of the ball but his strength is in his off the ball work for me. He reminds me of a young Sterling (18 yo) more than Barkley.

I like McNeil. Not seen loads of him cos watching Burnley is like footballing AIDS but he always plays well against us.

Another good talent. Possible one we let go too soon.

I always forget he was at us. I don't think he really tore things up in our youth set up, did he? Being released by United was probably the best thing that happened to him. He's moved on, played regular football and massively progressed.

Didn't know you had him. There's always a few but it's rare they come back to haunt you.

Top of my head for us is Creswell and Callum Wilson.

Ya he left in 2014 so was still very young.

Don’t think we’ll ever look at him and say I wish he was at United but he could have been a very useful option.

Agree with this

posted on 24/5/20

Yeah it's a catch 22 isnt it because he likely wouldnt have been had he not developed at Burnley if that makes sense. Utd have about 47 options down the left now though so it's all good!

McNeil will likely be sold imo due to this virus. Their chairman was saying it'll nail them and Liverpool 100% have scouted him so....

Welcome to Everton/West Ham/Newcadtle for £40,000,000 Dwight McNeil!

On an unrelated note, have you been taking the opportunity to do any scouting on Werner? It sounds like it's more likely than not he'll be a Liverpool player next season. I've watched both of RB Leipzig's games since the resumption of the Bundesliga. And he looks like a worryingly good fit for you guys. His scoring record speaks for itself, but he is incredibly hard working. Tracks back, makes tackles to win the ball and then has the pace and instinct to get in the right area to score. I think he'd be a very good signing for Liverpool, should it happen

Barnes could be one of those who benefits from the suspended Euros. Huge season for all those who haven’t had a real look in for the squad, Euros and WC in successive years.
