Tbf Sandy’s opinion is pretty well mirrored by some of the most senior scientific advisors. Note the government were always following the science - now they state they are listening to the science. That is a 180 by anyone’s token.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really. There were about 4 or 5 scientists who broke cover to tell us all what we already knew; in that we risked further deaths and perhaps a second spike. That’s been as clear as day 2 since this thing began.
The number of scientific advisors are around 50.
I would resign my position if I believed so fervently that my company was doing something against my “advice” that would cause needless deaths. I don’t see any of that happening here.
So as much as you claim they are at best ignoring this scientific advice then equally the many other scientists agree with what the government are doing.
We will never come out of lockdown if all we do is ever stay rigidly to the scientific advice as long as any of them tell us there is a risk.

'Not really'? What part?
You have confirmed what i said that 'some' advisers have came out and said they believe the government is moving too quick.
The fact also there are scientific advisers who also think different - is entirely a different point to the one I made.
Also the government have definitely reworded or rather rephrased the way they are applying the guidelines in conjunction with the science.
Personally I believe lockdown should've came two weeks earlier. Further the infrastructural and organisational change planning should've started sooner during lockdown to allow society and business to get back to running in some capacity.
However, the most important piece of coming out of lock down has to be about shielding the vulnerable. Sensible discussion about how we as a society protect them moving forward.
You're simply arguing for arguing sake.

Erm no.
I’m just demonstrating that there isn’t any 180 from the government. They are still following the scientific advice is all.
As I’ve pointed out no scientist will ever say there is no risk from catching a virus. There’ll always be a risk.
Doctors in Italy claim the coronavirus has weakened and become a shadow of the disease that rapidly spread around the world.
Italian medics say the infection - which has killed 370,000 worldwide - is much less lethal than it was and 'no longer clinically exists'.
Patients are showing much smaller amounts of the virus in their system, compared to samples taken during the peak of the crisis in March and April, they said.
Infections and deaths caused by Covid-19 have been falling in Italy for weeks. It was, at one point, the centre of Europe's escalating outbreak.

Yeah read that as well but also that it was being looked upon with incredulity in other scientific quarters.
That’s the issue with an unknown. Everyone is suddenly an expert. Have to be optimistic that there doesn’t appear to have been the scary second wave anywhere yet. In some areas numbers have slightly increased but not anywhere near as bad as was feared.
So far anyway.

From what I see, ginger is saying that deaths have come down so we can start to look at some normality (reasonable opinion)
Sandy says that the deaths are still high and therefore caution should be applied (reasonable view)
I don't see why either of you are getting so argumentative with each other.
Just accept you both have a valid opinion and move on.

In my opinion the lockdown should of just been for vulnerable people and people who live with vulnerable people and them be giving 100% furlough pay whilst healthy people get on with it.
Along with frontline workers having restrictions on only being able to go to work and having something in place to ensure home delivery for food when needed.

"But either way you can relax and breathe easy and stop being so anxious, by August we won’t have a single death or case in my opinion"

Hope you're still around in August to see!

Classy.. can't accept facts so then resort to abusing people and turning nasty..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was trying to be nice to you.
Don't you want to be around in August?
40,000 confirmed deaths will be reached by the end of the week. Another 359 deaths today. Shockingly high still.
