Matth, Fred is doing okay compared to how he did before but Henderson is a better player. He’s a very important part of the best team in the country.

If you must champion a united player who could get into that midfield try Bruno. He’s class and I’m sure you’ll find the more objective Liverpool fans agreeing more with the inclusion of Bruno than Fred
----------------------------------------------------------------------
hes not a better player Robb, he just suits Klopps style down to a tee.

he was garbage before Klopp came in, a view shared by countless liverpool fans and has been poor for England too.

He didnt get the nickname Horenderson for nothing.

Hes an ok Midfielder who works hard for the team and allows others to play, nothing more
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, there’s two issues with your point.

Firstly, this debate is about what united player gets until Klopp Liverpool side. Surely whatever you think about Henderson, by your own admission he does what Klopp wants ‘to a tee’. So it would take a special (not necessary a special talent but more a special player who follows the orders perfectly) player to take his place. Is there any evidence at all thar Fred is that guy?

And secondly you talk about what Henderson used to be like - what about what Fred used to be like? He was horrific for us at times. He has improved but Henderson has been playing at an improved level longer than Fred has.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
no i agree mate, he suits Klopps way perfectly, which is why i said earlier the Utd midfield would probably hinder Liverpool other than Mctominay who i think would fit right in.

But that doesnt make Henderson a better player

Gomez has conceded something ridiculous like 10 goals in his last 38 appearances. Him and VVD went on a run of just 1 goal conceded in 11 games during December/January.

Why would you replace him with Maguire?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
johnny Evans was part of the record breaking backline for games without conceding... id still have Vidic and ferdinand over him though when both fit

Fabinho > Fred

This debate ends here

No way Maguire gets in unless we're basing it on transfer fee alone

lubo,

6 months ago i would have agreed but Fred has come on leaps and bounds for Utd this season, dont let his very poor start blinker that.

player for player Utd have the superior midfield, I dont think there is much doubt about that.
having said that Liverpools midfield suits their system and the way they play very well, and for me I dont think Utds midfield would suit Liverpools style of play so would probably hinder them more than help.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is heaps of doubt about that, in fact I'd say you're delusional.

It's amazing how many players United have that are better than Liverpool's and yet Liverpool are hoovering up trophies and United are crap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were winning trophies 3 years ago, When you lot were crap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That doesn't explain how currently you have the better players but win nothing. In fact what has it to do with anything? What point are you making?

Fred
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's done more than Naby Keita, Speaking of which, I've not heard much of him, Apart from Jamie Redknapp going overboard on his debut 2 seasons ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Naby still has better stats than Fred despite hardly kicking a ball
----------------------------------------------------------------------
dpends what stats youre looking at Kash
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Midfield stats
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Goals and assists you mean

Which is cool except fred has been playing as a dm so isn't really expected to score many

His passes per game is better than keita, tackles, tackle success, long pass accuracy, interceptions....

All equally daft comparisons to make tho... They are playing different roles
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We played him there because of the injuries we had to be fair.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No we play him there because under Ole we play a double pivot in midfield so that's where our midfielders play

And its brought the best out of him in a united shirt

I’m one of the rarities who likes Henderson and thinks he’s massively underrated by non Liverpool fans but regarding Keita, lots of raw talent but think he’ll be sold by Klopp within a year. Just doesn’t seem to click.

A midfield squad with these 5 players would be great.

Pogba, Henderson, Bruno, Fabinho, Wijnaldum.

In terms of ‘getting into’, very few - if any - Man Utd players would get into the Liverpool team as they have a particular system in which I don’t think the Man Utd players would necessarily improve. If it was a combined XI on talent it would be:

DDG/Alisson
TAA Maguire VVD Robertson
Pogba Henderson Fernandes
Salah Rashford Mane
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd put Matic, Fred or McTominay ahead of Henderson personally.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wouldn’t, personally, especially considering how bad Matic is - and also the fact that Henderson has been one of the leagues best performers this season.

Even if United, on paper, have some players better than Liverpool's it's their ability to play as a team that makes them better at present. That is a skill in itself and is something Klopp has moulded.

If, big if, Solskjaer can mould the individuals we have into a cohesive team, whilst adding one or two top players along the way, then there's no reason we can't challenge them. There were decent signs before the break and we need to continue on the trajectory.

I'm not one of those people who think we're a decade away from winning the league (we finished above Liverpool only two years ago) but neither do I think it's going to be easy.

Stats obviously aren't everything but if we're talking about who would improve this Liverpool side then I don't think you could argue that Maguire definitely would.

Gomez and VVD's partnership is ridiculously good, I don't think they've ever lost a game together in the league.

I know you were trying to make a petulant comment. However that is hardly an incorrect statement. They have a lot of seriously talented players and their manager had the best team in the Norwegian league (Molde) and was able to not win the league between 2015-2018 they won the year before and after - OGS is awful

It's about systems as well as ability to be honest.

Pogba is better than every midfield player Liverpool have abilty-wise, but he doesn't get into their team based on how they play.

Bruno, Fred and McT could play in a Klopp system though, but Bruno is probably the only one that currently gets in their side in the midfield.

because Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the league that automatically means each player is the best in their position when compared to any other player in the PL
