Klopp would change his system to accommodate Pogba
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's ironic, When he said he would leave Liverpool if he spent a world-record fee on a player, He did that with Alisson and Van Dijk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither were world record fees

it does make you laugh.

because Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the league that automatically means each player is the best in their position when compared to any other player in the PL

----------------------------------------------------------------------
On the flip side Dunc we were told by some on here we were only top because the rest of the league is terrible, and now they believe 5/6 United players would get in our starting 11.

People are still seriously underrating Fred but to say he’s better than Liverpool’s midfield is untrue.

We are debating with United and not Man City fans who have a better squad. I remember the years when Gerrard was our only realistic player to get a United team. Now the tables have turned

dont believe that for a start mate.

Liverpool for me are the best team in the world at the minute, despite losing to Atletico.

has the league been poor this season?
maybe, but on the flip side you could argue that its just been more competitive with the lower clubs maybe bridging the gap and taking more points of the so called fancy clubs

That was one of our better but very short era however before that we have Murphy and Hamman and after that we had Lucas and Aqualani competing against title winning United midfields. United don't have a midfield like Gerrard, Alonso and Masch.

It's about systems as well as ability to be honest.

Pogba is better than every midfield player Liverpool have abilty-wise, but he doesn't get into their team based on how they play.

Bruno, Fred and McT could play in a Klopp system though, but Bruno is probably the only one that currently gets in their side in the midfield.

Finally a non-delusional comment from a United fan.

Wow. This break has really brought forward the delusion of United fans. They've got such good players, it must be the manager's fault they're crap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because the scousers were winning leagues after klopp had 18 months in charge

have a day of TOOR ffs, your making yourself look daft
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What has this got to do with anything? We're asking which United players would get in the Liverpool team and you guys are listing a load of players. I'm trying to understand how these inferior players are actually great players, better than Liverpool's players and yet are crap, as a team. One possible reason is the manager isn't very good. Why do you think it is?

It depends. Your midfield plays a very different role to the Liverpool midfield tactically. I would say maybe Maguire in for Matip, and possibly a prime Pogba in for Wijnaldum but that's about it. And I don't think that Pogba or Maguire would suit the way Liverpool play.

Henderson is a better player than Fred.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree with you on your last point, I don't see the hype in Henderson to be honest, I mean, He's been nowhere near the best player in the Premier League this season, De Bruyne has.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah but Fred hasn’t been second best

posted on 2/6/20

Few things here, Keita has had a fair few motm performances for us and hes never had a game below 5/10 as far as im aware, he didnt cost more than Fred at all, 47.5m which rose to 52.5m soon as RB Leipzig Fred signed for 52m flat which could rise as high as 61.2m its reported.

Hendersons been arguably our best player this season, hes been great. Watching match highlights myself of this season and saw how involved hes been in everything we've done. Some passes etc Matth would be creaming himself over if Pogba made them. Hes so underrated by fifa fan girls its unreal, thankfully those who actually played football and have a profession in it actually give Hendo the credit and respect he deserves.

Yep, he’s got great delivery

Without commenting on actual players, what wins titles is ge them to play as a team. It's what SAF did, a d what Klopp does.
We rarely had WC players, but we had a top team. Liverpool have a top team, but the players may not look the same under another manager, and in another team.

As for the OP theres a few players who would improve our squad from utd, but few if any that i'd switch into the first team as it stands. Pogba (with his head str8 and in form) and Fernandes, but even still im not sure. For example i'd take KDB in str8 away, Utd dont have a player id put in our first team no questions asked is what im trying to say.

I’m not comparing their ability or even positions on the pitch but Henderson is a bit like Carrick a decade ago - ludicrously criticised by rival fans but if you can’t see what they bring to a team then you probably don’t really see the game. Every Liverpool and england manager he’s had has valued him, Henderson will just never the fan favourite for the masses.

In terms of combined team, it would take a special player to break up out front 3 and I don’t think Utd have that special player atm. I know it’s only half a dozen games but personally I’d take Bruno in a heartbeat, not just for ability but he looks to have a real hunger and drive about him.

There’s an argument for Maguire over Gomez but Gomez is so quick and that pace is needed when the FBs push. I agree that McT would probably suit our style but would he get in ahead of Fabinho or Wij or Henderson? Doubt it. A midfield of Fabinho, Henderson and Bruno would work for us imo.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I always thought Hamman was a very good player.

I don't recall many Liverpool fans at the time being quite so humble and deferential to United's squad as this revisionist take would imply. However, I do recall a lot of United fans thinking that because we were the best team at the time, all of our players were individually the best. That always struck me as delusional and playing down the importance of the magic ingredient of team coherence and culture - winning championships with important contributions by players who were no more than decent in their ability but outstanding in their commitment and professionalism.

I think Henderson is a good example of these fallacies. A hard-working, technically sound player but not a 'fantasy' player. In earlier, less potent iterations of the Liverpool side he was derided as pedestrian and his perceived limitations were magnified by association with the limitations of the team. Opposition fans are loathe to let go to of a negative first impression and so the label sticks. As is so often the case, in a more confident side that dominates more games, Henderson looks better, more poised, more commanding, has more telling contributions. He's the same player with the same inherent qualities and the same ceiling as before. Are there more talented players in the squads of teams that are currently well below Liverpool's level? Certainly. Would Liverpool improve their team if they replaced him with one of them? Quite probably not, because he meets Klopp's requirements so well.
