It's why he gets banned.

I'd like to believe his intentions are good...it's just the execution that's the problem.

And at best it's nice of the players who wanted to do it.

But it won't achieve anything at all.

There's every chance the players have individually done something to help and it would have been nice to promote those causes, using this photo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, I agree with this. Would have been great to have seen that photo, if sportsmen and teams are going to do something like that, followed up with links to support organisations in the US that are working on trying to effect real change and actively supporting protesters.

It is a can of worms though, which is why the governing bodies try their best to keep politics out of it and why personally I'm not a fan of the take the knee approach. I do get there are occasions where things go bigger and morph into commentary on society in general though.

Jesus wept, look at the state of this.

And you wonder why I refer to the Liverpool gang?

How many of you here, circling, desperate to have a pop at me - regardless of how little you understand about this subject?

But sure, it's all my fault, as usual. Do you all still really believe that?

Delusional.

GT - Robbing has wet his pants because, like him, I was banned temporarily from the site.

Difference is, the reason for mine is very different to the reason he was... that being the foul abuse that he directed at me about the mental health of my children.

Of course, none of that was his fault.

Oh, and he'll no doubt lie about me having had an account on here before... I never have.

Yet another thread ruined by the childish Liverpool fans of JA606. Shame.

(GT, I don't include you in that)

How easy is that though? Pomote links what could be construed as supporting what their president calls terrorists... is that likely? Or wis

Why people can't just accet it for what it is I don't know. Not better, not worse, just a gesture. People are changing their FB profiles to black? Am I? Nope. Do I find it trite? Yeah a bit.

It does show people are thinking about it though and that's good enough for me as I view it as a positive.

Nah he cant can he with alt accounts. 100% banned last week though as I was there on the thread. Ripleys pasted one of ADJ comments to Winston and he replied though

Check the account. It's almost verbatim. I mean there cpuld be teo posters who get drawn into long debates abput semantics, how people use the forum and write "hope this helps" but I doubt it.

And that's what I mean about the can of worms. If it's wanted to make a point about racism in general, then there are multiple organisations that are linked to all the time that are not political as such.

If you're going to make more of a political point (which taking a knee is seen as to some in the US, given it's about their police brutality), then you've already effectively shown your support for those groups, particulary in the eyes of their bat&hit crazy president I imagine!

Yeah I guess. I quite liked pur lads doing it an it was apparently their choice. Not one of them is over 30 but they all seem nice lads trying todo the right thing. We're American owned as well so they no doubt have to be a touch cautious.

Yep and ultimately, it's not for the benefit of people that understand the issues already, it's for raising awareness to people that don't.

I do just have a slight issue with anything political mixing with sport and I just think people need to be mindful of it at times, particularly if they don't understand the wider context. Like I said, I do think this has, or at least is morphing into something more societal in general though.

To be fair, you can have any reaction to this and it not say anything whatsoever about your thoughts on either the wider issue of inequality and racism or the specific issue of police brutality and racism in the US. Likewise, the opposite.

You're mistaken if you think this is about racism. Its a political issue pure and simple. While there is a right wing government the left wing extremists push agenda's like this, whipping up bad feeling to get as many people on their side as possible.

This sort of thing can happen at any time. If its during a left wing government they tend to sweep it under the carpet, but if its a right wing government its blown out of proportion.

Its not just making as much out of any issues like this that they can as well, its out and out lies they spread a lot of the time. I stopped working for a trade union years back as the extremism was so bad I just couldnt turn a blind eye. They used to have meeting where they would just make up lies about Tory MP's. When I said is there anything to back up these allegations the reply across the room I got back was who cares, if it makes one person change their vote the ends justifies the means. .Fully admitted to making it all up and using every one they thought they could get away with. I see them as several rungs up the ladder of extremism.

Dont get me wrong, racism is always wrong and no one should be treated differently because of race ever, but these protests are not really about that.

I think you're conflating the genuine protests, over the murder of George Floyd, with the violent hijacking of the protests by the ANTIFA movement which does promote violence to enhance its political agenda.

I see the police in the US have mistakenly arrested an FBI officer and the owner of a gold shop who they believed was trying to rob said gold shop.

Big prizes on offer if you can guess what they had in common.
