Best clutch goals are when a player accelerates away and hits a team on the brake

Clutch goal - no
Overtime? Absolutely no and you should wash your mouth out and have a long hard look at yourself.

Last-minute equalisers are just desperation - clutching at draws.

Never heard of a clutch goal but Gerrard versus Olympiakos in the CL and West Ham in the FA Cup. He would go on to lift both trophies.

Wouldn't Sheringham's really have been the "clutch goal" in the 99 CL Final?

I'm going to argue passionately for the definition of this term I'd never heard until ten minutes ago.

I'd say Sheringham's was the accelerator before the clutch goal.

Michael Thomas vs Liverpool in 89 possibly. Still not quite getting what it means.
A goal scored in injury time that results in a win even of it isnt the winner?

That was the winner, but the score was 1-1 already at that point, so the pressure was off to an extent.

Teddy's goal was more clutch.

Usually means the crucial moment in a game, I think.

It’s hard to apply it to football in the same way as American sports given the difficulty, and diffidences, in the scoring.

You get far more many ‘clutch’ moments in American sports like basketball, baseball and American football given how often the match can be swung in the very final moments of the game.
