FSG are paupers compared to most owners, so obviously they're not gonna compete financially when there's a recession about to hit.

Even Stan Kroenke's wife (Ann Kroenke) has a net worth almost triple that of the entire Fenway Sports Group

Don't get me wrong, I think they have been decent owners having bought us from Tom and Jerry but I think they have taken us as far they can. To take us to the next level and a period of sustained success we need owners who will say to Klopp "Here's x amount. Go and and build a squad of 25 top class players who will challenge for the PL and UCL year in, year out." Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like FSG are going to do that

FSG only spend big when there is a big sale.

I think a lot of people forget how much money we now spend on wages. Our wage bill was £110m at the start of the season and that doesn't take into account bonuses, new contract signing on fees, agent fees etc.

It was just a question. I don’t actually want them out, but just wanted to gauge other supporters views on this matter.

"Are any of you the windy types that get in a huff if someone says just face facts that we are not going to buy anyone this summer as a result of the pandemic?"

A few are probably going to flap but I wrote the above 2 weeks ago and nothing's changed in my view.

A few people need to have a good look at what spurs have done with the cheap loans available. No doubt levy has decided to borrow s bit extra to pay off more expensive stadium loans but 175mil loan????

The fact Chelsea have hazard and morata money sat available is good for them.

Great signing for Chelsea if it goes through.
Personally not that bothered about not signing Werner.
As for FSG, I'm sure if Klopp did want him, and FSG said no, which I highly doubt was the case, well find out soon enough.

The real story is

+20mil
-127mil
+ 28mil
+6mil
-28mil
-38mil
-20mil

If you note also that Barca reputedly have not paid 37mil or something and then note how much of a revenue gap spurs have reported and then see thst many players were given large deals which are long and a big burden then it should be no shock that we don't have 50mil for a transfer

I juat accept the owners for what they are which is prudent. Luckily we've just win the European Cup and are about to win the league.

We'll play youth or sommat

a lot of it is poor scorn on flappers then run the party line that all will be well and then look over there spurs are in trouble.

the only thing I got out of it really is this, how much revenue do liverpool think will be missing and how mich will we end up borrowing ourselves.

I presume spurs have no cl revenue issues plus their massively over budget stadium to pay and levy is smart enough to see cheaper.money that hes already borrowed so he might well pay off other loans with his 175mil that are at 10 times the interest?

we have to have a 50mil loss potentially next season before buying? if behind closed doors happens it wipes the method of paying for the main stand away, I would presume then the anfield road end will be shelved.

I would actually go out and borrow that needed funds at 0.5% interest rates and everton ought to be doing the same for their stadium.

if the government wants to bankroll cheap money why it exploit it big time and give construction a priority over players.

anyway, it was clearly signalled the minute we went into lockdown and strengthened by furlough effort.

I have already acknowledged that FSG have done a grand job in terms of the commercial side of things. They should be congratulated for the Main stand, Nike deal and increasing revenue streams. However, in my eyes the best owners of a football club are willing to put their hands in their own pockets to finance players that the first team desperately requires 👍

Lol FSG assembled one of the most expensive squads in football history, signing at the time the most expensive defender and goalkeeper - and you guys think they are tight cos they aren’t spending as much money after a pandemic?

VVD and Alisson were financed by the Coutinho deal. Not once have FSG put their hands in their own pockets for the purchase of players.
