Hmm

Fully agree we should have locked down earlier. As for "experts" telling us how many lives would have been saved - poppycock. They've fwcked up their estimates and made wild assumptions based on flawed modelling time and time again, so I have little faith in any of their next guesstimates.

I do however acknowledge that a quicker lockdown would have prevented the bandwidth of spread which in turn caused deaths. How many? Nobody knows.

Closing down foreign visitors was a no brainer and makes the decision by Patel 3 weeks ago look completely baffling.

As for back slapping ; they have to be positive. I've listened to Sturgeon who presents better than anyone else but offers nothing different other than more caution. I listened to the Welsh minster yesterday and he sounded more like Frasier from Dad's Army. Truly awful.

Frasier from Dad's Army. An interesting mash up of comedies there.

I'd like to see one with the old boy from Steptoe in a Friends episode.

Boris and his latest plan to build his way out of recession is daft, he is on about that fooking bridge to NI again. I know he is copying the strategy the USA put in place to come out f the Great Depression but the situations are too different and its a non-starter for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I remember it when Cameron was implementing cuts to reduce the deficit we were advised this was wrong by Labour and the SNP as spending our way out and generating business was the way to go.

Now the proposal is to spend our way out of this, it seems that is wrong as well.

I guess its a choice, cuts and austerity
or Spend

You're right.

Let's raise taxes and leave the soon to be and already unemployed on the scrap heap while we try and balance the books by whittling down benefits as we won't be able to afford it.

Meanwhile we leave our assets to rot and our infrastructure to fall further behind with no investment or remedials. Let's leave our services such as hospitals, the police etc to make do as again we won't be able to afford anything.

Taxation income will drop off the face of a cliff as more businesses fall by the wayside and again put more people out of work at a time when we are nearing record highs. Drop a significant amount of of people from the public sector and reduce their income as we won't be able to afford that either and then parks and facilities close down. Let's increase the divide between haves and have nots.

Ooops nearly forgot.... get the rich to pay for everything, but time it right so that we do it before they take their investments elsewhere.

Fwck me. This is brilliant

I always knew that I was caught in the middle of political beliefs. I have some right wing thoughts while being proudly socialist thinking.

None more so than of late. I am and always have been a huge advocate of BLM in whatever form it has taken. Hugely supportive of any human beings right to find the best life possible for them regardless of man made borders.

However, as I have progressed in my career I have started to think of how can I be more tax efficient. That's a human instict I'd say. How can I make the most of the money I earn while still paying taxes that are required.

I agree with Duke. Spending is the way out. Austerity is an ideology, not a solution to a problem.

But I would prefer it if they focused on achievable targets, not bridges that will never be built.

And they probably need to spend more than 0.2% of GDP, although they will be limited by what they've already invested in furlough etc.

The furlough and business grant money is separate to the spending plans are as this new £5bn. Sturgeon once again is taking out of her rse.

Not to put too fine a point on it but it’ll be interesting to see what she hands her cap out for in the not too distant future.

Well what a shock.

This money is part of new funding whichever way you look at it unless of course anyone thinks the cost of the virus was planned.

So either the initial money has been used for furlough, grants, equipment, science etc which would make sense, or that money is “new” money.

“I, to put it mildly, am extremely underwhelmed by what has been announced this morning.

“We can often judge the scale of fiscal announcements from the UK Government by what we expect then to see in [Barnett funding formula] consequentials to devolved administrations.

“I hope I’m wrong [about this] but our expectation is there will be no additional consequentials from the Prime Minister’s announcement this morning for Scotland or the other devolved administrations.

“We may see a reprofiling of consequentials we are already expecting, but we are certainly not expecting any, certainly not any significant, additional consequentials, and that tells its own story. What that says is that this is not new money.

“This is simply shuffling around money that was already in the system. I don’t think that is commensurate with the scale of the challenge which we face.”

There we have it. If new money then Scotland should be expecting £500m or so? If not, it's either not new money or Scotland being screwed over. Again.

I see a new poll puts support for English independence amongst tory voters at 49%. Good, almost there.

Fraser Forster is unlikely to return to Celtic this summer, it is understood.

The goalkeeper spent last season on loan from Southampton at Parkhead and the Hoops are desperate for him to return once more for another loan stint.

Now, however, Herald and Times Sport understands Ralph Hassenhuttl may be willing to give the 32-year-old a chance in the team at St Mary's next season to compete with current number one Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn.

Southampton had reportedly wanted around £10million for Forster on a permanent deal but Celtic were more hopeful of securing him on another loan.

Bojo and chums seem to be progressing an Ungerland only agenda. They really only care about lording at the trough of all things England. I could see a scenario of Scottish independence followed by a United Ireland, followed by a cry for Welsh independence. That seems a possibility to me.

How can you tell when he's telling lies?
His mouth's open.

Imagine comparing relative pocket change to The New Deal.
Basically fixing stuff that should have been done years ago.
He'll get away with it though.
