Oh it’s ok we’re going to have a V style recovery anyway.

So nothing to worry about.

"1. We went into lockdown too late and are coming out too early. Our death toll and infection rate proves that beyond doubt."
That's still not an answer, if you were incharge RIGHT NOW what measures would currently be implemented and for how long?

"2. I will be working from home until at least October and probably until the end of the year. None of the places I want to go to are even open yet so what am I really going outside for apart from a bit of fresh air?"
Again that doesn't answer the question, are you refusing to leave your house until a vaccine? Or to make it easier, if you're told while the virus is still in circulation it's back to the workplace or no more job, what it's going to be?

I leave my house everyday.

However I will not be engaging in Herd Immunity unless I’m forced to do so.

Also if you're so insistent indefinite lockdown is the way to go then you absolutely should have an answer on how to save the economy and as an consequence people's lifes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The economy is f*cked. Add in Brexshit and it’s doubly f*cked

It’s not me to come up with solutions for problems I didn’t cause, let the Gammon sort it out.

There's a difference between it being relatively weak and resembling a 3rd world country.

And like i said, given your such obvious strong views on the lockdown being long term, then you should absolutely have something passing an answer on how we can keep recoursing the NHS to save lives, else that totally defeats the object of lockdown!

There are two things governments are searching for.....
1. a vaccine ...one that works and is safe...
2. a medical treatment for those who get it.

On the second point ......
the US buys almost all the global remdesivir supply...
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-53244997

remdesivir is the only potential treatment available ATM.......
and it is not at all clear how well it works.
Don't get your hopes up .....
oh weell you'll have to come over here to get it...
if they'll let you in, if you're sick!!!

Well the problem of we’ve never really had a lockdown in the first place, so we don’t know how well it could have worked.

I’m with Winston. There is no evidence whatsoever of a 2nd wave anywhere, so what experts on here seem to think the U.K. will get a 2nd wave ? No country has had a 2nd wave. Some countries have had the odd town/ city go into partial lockdown, but there has been no 2nd wave. I get the impression some people actually enjoy this and are secretly hoping for a 2nd wave, so they can be lazy ba*** for 8 months and not work. It’s scaremongering Bolloks and nobody has any evidence as to predicting we are in for a horrendous winter. The virus is on a downward trend and has been for months. The deaths are getting lower and the hospital cases far less. If people want to spend the rest of the year indoors in a dark room then that’s you’re choice. Stop lambasting people who want to get on with life.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cases in the world are going up not down. America is having a massive second wave. Dont be daft
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eh?

The US is still in the first wave, surely? I certainly don’t know when else they had a first wave that’s for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Their cases were going down to 20k a day form 30k. Now they are at 40k per day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As it spreads through the states. It’s still the first wave

Pubs not for me as i don't drink but have booked a few restaurants (badly need a curry), but being realistic pubs/restaurants with the current regulations are no more risky than supermarkets, probably less risky as you haven't got potentially 100's of people touching what you're going to buy, plus a big cold poorly ventilated supermarket is one of the biggest spreads/most at risk places you can go

HOWEVER my main issue with pubs is after 3-4 drinks social distancing etc is all going to go out the window and all the dancing and loud mouthing etc etc will start because people can't control their drinks regardless

Yeah this is still the first wave. A knock on effect of not having any clear leadership and allowing 50 states to do as they wish.

Big fall today, against a huge number of tests.

Strangely late release of the data though.

Piers Morgan will be fuming. I tend to focus more on numbers after the overall weekly numbers as opposed to daily, and those numbers have declined week by week for quite some time.

The next big test is the pubs and borders opening, if we get through that without spikes is it safe to say the first wave is as good as done? (and before a certain someone jumps on that and takes those words out of context, that doesn't mean we should get complacent and scrap the measures).

I wish I didn’t let the daily numbers affect my mood but they do tend to, week on week I mean.

It’s now what, 4 weeks since the BLM protests? The signs are good but I agree the coming few weeks are big.

Stay home.

And if you must go out wear a mask, keep your distance and use hand sanitiser.

Reported deaths.

I think the actual number is much lower now.

Tragic though, of course.

posted on 3/7/20

How can it be much lower than the reported deaths?

posted on 3/7/20

Because a lot of the reported deaths are from weeks ago.

So the actual number of people dying this week will be less than 1,000, comfortably.
