As Matth is Welsh he could go for Roy Ci-ne. 'Ci' being the Welsh word for Dog.

(Just putting on my language geek hat for a moment.) Any idea how closely/distantly related the Celtic and Latin language groups are? The Welsh for dog isn't a million miles away from the French 'chien'.

The Corgi dog breed has its name roots in Welsh as well:
The term "Corgi" means either cur dog or dwarf dog (cor = dwarf, gi = lenitive of ci, dog) in the Welsh language, which was not intended as an insult to the dog's size, rather as a purely descriptive term.
