This country needs all the immigration it can get with the Brexit mob deterring people from coming over.

In reality this gesture will lead to very few people coming over though. As bad as things are in HK how many people are going to uproot their lives to move halfway across the world. I mean we're still all living here despite the shiiiitshow which is going on

It'll cost around 10k each. And that's them having to live and work here for 5 years and then maybe they'll get it. On top of that, they could change the laws and remove the offer. At least the UK is standing up and taking responsibility.

The wealthy entrepreneurs will be invited with open arms to Australia and Canada like they were in 1997.

I don't know if this was addressed to me or not but how can this country populate more people when it's massively over populated already.
Then we have to factor in the amount of unemployed as a result of the pandemic.
Say 5 million to take his over that's another 5 mill unemployed till we're stable.
It's terrible about HK but sort out the country first then worry about affairs overseas.

It isn't massively over populated. London is, sure... but I have no idea what makes you think the whole country is. I am not interested in sorting "us" out first. I don't have that mentality at all.

I think they will have factored in how many are likely to take the offer. Would be shocked if 5,000 take it nevermind 5 million. They are a predominantly high skilled country, so they would be very welcome and now have an innate hatred of authoritarian communists.
