Sancho can play across the front line. Even if we got no injuries, rotation alone would still see him and all our other attackers play the majority of matches. As it stands, you play Greenwood every week and hope he doesn't get burned out (which he will) or you play Dan James, Mata or Lingard. None of those are adequate back up options
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it is one huge plus for him, at the moment our cover for rashford and greenwood is james, and our cover for bruno is mata/lingard/pereira (ole doesn't seem too keen on pushing pogba further forwards).
but then you have to ask whether he currently would get into our first 11. if the answer is "no", he would be a squad player. and he's clearly a squad player on a different level to james/lingard etc, but i'm not sure there is a club in the world who would spend £116m for a player who wouldn't walk into their first 11.
cue us buying him for £120m and using him as a supersub.
Gonna be interesting. Ed’s I can imagine is desperate for the deal to go through, a chance of getting a brilliant player while other clubs (for different reasons) aren’t competing for his signature. Also I’m sure Dortmund would love to sell if they can as it’s basically how their business model works, although they’re not in a urgent need to sell.

I think the type of player to bring in for RW should now be adjusted with the emergence of Greenwood. It looks like Greenwood is ready to be a regular and can't sign a 100m player to sit on the bench. However we still need a capable player to cover RW and I think a player like Traore would be a sensible approach. We can then reinforce our midfield and central defence with the money left plus from players sale.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Traore would not come cheap either.

i saw one article recently with traore and €150m mentioned in the same sentence (!)
but wolves have multi-billionaire chinese owners, who presumably view their club as top 8 regulars. rightly or wrongly traore has received a lot of media attention this season, and there is no way he's leaving that club for less than £60m, and quite possibly a bit more, unless the player downs tools i guess.
The thing with Greenwood though is that while he’s looking great out wide, for me that’s a temporary role for him where he will eventually play through the middle. Sancho on the other hand could be our long term RW for many years and a brilliant one at that.
Yes we need quality in other areas but it’s rare an opportunity like this comes around where we are able to bring in someone with this quality. Greenwood is also young and we need to be sensible with the amount of football we give the lad.

Cough up, City get a huge cut of any transfer fee.

how big is "huge" by the way? asking for my girlfriend.

30% apparently.
I value him at £120m and United would be stupid not to buy him.

The emergence of Greenwood has been a pleasant surprise but it should also alter our thinking over getting Sancho at any price.
Hypothetically, if we didn't address the RW issue for another season, it would give Greenwood another chance to progress. Let's say he has another phenomenal season, breaking records, then the position is his, RW is no longer an issue.
However, Greenwood is only eighteen, he'll have his off days like all youngsters do. Will we show the patience when he fails to deliver consistently? That's the main potential issue with Greenwood, expecting consistency.
The thing with Greenwood is if he is good though, even if we get Sancho, he'll force his way into the team by displacing one of Rashford or Martial, more likely the former!
If the price is right, whatever it is, we should get Sancho. If we don't, we should still address the RW issue.
Borussia Dortmund will accept nothing less than 130m euros (£116m) for England winger Jadon Sancho,
++
United should send a message back to them saying, "OK, good luck with that".

We should offer 40m for him now and 60m if and when he proves that he will.
No one is going to pay anywhere near that anytime soon. It'll 3-4 years before the transfer market bounces back, maybe longer. Dortmund need to lower thier expectation or end up Sancho leaving on a free in a few years.
