Yes. But we may have won all 5 and the next 2 by rotating.

Isn't there financial penalties with the Adidas deal if we fail to qualify for the CL
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yup, i think i read 30%, or c. £20m, for failing to qualify for the CL in successive seasons. wouldn't swear to the figures, but am pretty sure on the clause.

Likely to impact on transfer spend one would think

Should rest players for the Chelsea game. Getting into the champions league is more important then winning the Fa cup sadly.

yup, normally CL is important to attract big players, but i do fear that without CL money/with lower sponsorship income we may not be able to afford...let's say, £100m on sancho.

We just won the fa cup tie against Norwich by the skin of our teeth and people put it down to ole rotating

And likewise we might not have continued our momentum and not had our chances of top 4 in our own hands. How often have we won 4 games in a row in the pl in recent years? And here you are moaning that ole stuck with a team that won 4 on the trot in the league and almost 5 if not for an injury. A run that has got us right back in the mix for CL football.

I think he should have rotated more over the last 5. That might be difficult now with must win games against Palace, relegation threatened West Ham and a good Leicester side.

We wont be spending £100m on a player, qualify for the Champs league or not.

CL will affect our overall spending, regardless of if we dump it in to Sanchez

Somewhat contradicts RDD's claim that:

"Our future isnt at risk of we dont qualify. Neither is our ability to sign quality"

And if he had have rotated those games might not have mattered because we might be too far behind.

How would £20m loss put our future or potential signings at risk ?

We'd have had 3 if not for the injury to Williams. It was just some bad luck.

If you would have rotated and drew or lost, many would be on here saying why change a team that's won 4 on the bounce and coasted in the last half hour of the previous 4 games.

Previous games haven't been hard fought games, they've been in most cases half a game of football and half a game of coasting/walking football

yeah, but southampton have played a game more and ran a lot in their last game vs city.

OP, have you posted any praise for OGS in recent weeks?

I felt he should have freshened things up before the game.

However, I do believe if he’d done that and we hadn’t won them some people would have been criticising him... and by the looks of things, that would include you.

You said our ability to sign quality isnt at risk if we fail to qualify

A 20m loss is just 1 part of a financial hit to our possible transfer plans alongside TV revenue added the fact that we are a less attractive option to potential quality signings not too mention current players who may want to leave.

Our ability to sign quality is most certainly at risk but you already know this

Plenty of talk here on how ole should approach the game if he was that concerned about rotation he could have voiced it.

No doubt if ole had rotated last night with a similar result hed be still here having a pop

posted on 14/7/20

All well and good with hindsight saying we should have rotated tonight. We are still on a fantastic run and We still have to play Leicester and Chelsea still have to go to Anfield, so top 4 is very much still on. A hiccup and a sickener last night but far from a disaster. We'll learn a lot about this team and manager in how they react against Palace.

If he’d rotated and drawn or lost he would have been crucified for changing a winning team
