OP, have you posted any praise for OGS in recent weeks?
I felt he should have freshened things up before the game.
However, I do believe if he’d done that and we hadn’t won them some people would have been criticising him... and by the looks of things, that would include you.

Isn't there financial penalties with the Adidas deal if we fail to qualify for the CL
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yup, i think i read 30%, or c. £20m, for failing to qualify for the CL in successive seasons. wouldn't swear to the figures, but am pretty sure on the clause.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhat contradicts RDD's claim that:
"Our future isnt at risk of we dont qualify. Neither is our ability to sign quality"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How would £20m loss put our future or potential signings at risk ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You said our ability to sign quality isnt at risk if we fail to qualify
A 20m loss is just 1 part of a financial hit to our possible transfer plans alongside TV revenue added the fact that we are a less attractive option to potential quality signings not too mention current players who may want to leave.
Our ability to sign quality is most certainly at risk but you already know this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We got Fernandes, Maguire and AWB without Champs League football. Ole is only interested in quality players with the attitude of improving us rather than wanting to sign the finished article who wont fancy sacrificing a season or 2 in the Champs League IF it comes to that.

Hardly. How often does a manager pick an unchanged side 5 times on the bounce during such a gruelling schedule?
A lot of people quick to jump on RDD, but he is right. Ole took a calculated risk and it has paid off well, but we are looking more and more leggy each game, the first 20 minutes against Villa was clearly evident and that carried on again last night. I don't think he should have been making wholesale changes, but I think managing Matic and Pogba could have started a game or two earlier.
As said though, it was a calculated risk... So not really an Ole mistake, but something that was likely to cause an issue sooner or later.

In fact Southampton have played 1 more game post covid against Norwich. So their players should be more knackered than yours who in the 4 previuos games had 3 goal leads and coasted at the end of games.
PISSPOOR excuse claiming that your players were knackered IMO.

trying a bit too hard tonight i'd say, probably want to pack it in and come back in the morning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
These are facts,if any team should have been knackered it would be the Saints having played an extra game.
Or do you dispute this, did you see the effort they put in beating City the previous game, energy sapping and they come out and do the same at old trafford
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Am i missing something? Post covid Southampton played 6 games, United played 7 games (1 in FA cup which we played 120 mins)
How often does a manager pick an unchanged side 5 times on the bounce during such a gruelling schedule?

How many times during that 5 game run did you voice your concern
The front three look fine to play every game we throw at them, as does Fernandes, even the back four looked fine, energy wise. I think it is Pogba and Matic that need a bit of rest here and there, a 5%+ drop in midfield energy is what costs points.

as i said earlier, i don't actually know how much, if any, training we are doing at the moment, so other than the matches, ole may not have much to judge a player's fitness on. it was obvious that some of the players looked very leggy - some from quite early on in the match - so with hindsight it was a mistake, but i'm not going to crucify the manager for something that may not have been too obvious beforehand.
and this is also of course related to the weakness of the understudies, ie ole may have felt that pogba at 70% was still better than fred/mctominay, greenwood and bruno at 60% still better than mata or james etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
right now the answer might have to be "not very much"...at a minimum it is "a lot less than 24 hours ago".
we have some options, though i shift in my seat uncomfortably even as i mention them...eg go to 5 at the back, AWB is part of the 3 in the middle, with dalot and james as wing-backs (assuming williams is out, he may be able to do a terry butcher for us), fred and mctominay in the middle, same front 3, pogba and bruno on the bench etc.
but the norwich fa cup match showed what we already know, there is a big gap between some of the first 11 and the backups (annoyingly i think ighalo is one of the better reserves, but martial looked relatively fresh yesterday...suppose he could play upfront with martial in a 2)
I'm at least confident that Fred and McT can do well against Chelsea, as they have on other occasions this season (I feel their stock has unfairly plummeted on here, they were doing well and just needed a better link between midfield and attack).
With Chelsea facing Liverpool and Wolves in their last 2 league games they will probably rotate fornthebFA Cup sonid be OK withbOle doing the same but I wouldn't rotate to the point we sacrifice a possible FA Cup final.
For the Palace game I'd probably go (and I realise it's a bit of a risk and may not be the prettiest) with this:
DDG
AWB
Lindelof
Maguire
Williams or Dalot
Fred
McT
Bruno
Mata
Martial
Rashford
Fred and McT will not give us as much control but they will want to try and stake a claim to play v Chelsea so I think they'd be sound inclusions. The defence won't be that tired but wouldn't be against Bailly coming in though if needed.
Up front our forwards are looking sharp but I think keeping Greenwood and Ighalo back may not be a bad thing as they may have more space to exploit as Palace tire in the second half. Same goes for Pogba as well. I've included Bruno as I don't think he seems tired and we could do with someone to shoot from range as I'm sure Palace will sit deep. Mata is in for his guile and he seems to have a good understanding with Bruno.
Let's just hope we're able to get the early goal and that Palace aren't really interested in putting up much of a fight!
