I dont think we can now afford to rotate vs Palace, which is a must win game in the race for top 4.

I been very pleased with recent results.

Rotating may or may not have helped last night, but we will never know.

This article states that he should have rotated and it was poor management that he didnt

Not read all the replies but Utd have an insane fixture list (due to winning games) and a lack of quality squad depth.

Id hazard a guess CL football is not quite vital but VERY important for Utd this year, Southampton are a good side and as such a couple of points were dropped.

The balance between attack and defence is tricky and although I've degended Maguire plenty he's not done so well the last few games, Bournemouth and Southampton in particular.

The United manager shouldnt be making decisions for fear of criticism from fans online.

I doubt very much he is

Unless he is a member on here

I knew it. Winston is actually Ole

the obvious plan was to secure the 3 points last night to give a bit of breathing space and rotate against palace.
It was, as Ji said earlier, a calculated risk to continuing on with the same starting 11, that was only a couple of minutes away from paying off.

We go into the palace game with a rotated starting 11 which was likely to happen regardless.

As absurd as this is to say about a defender that cost as much as he did, but I feel Maguire needs a certain type of player next to him.

Someone agile, who reads the game well.

I'm thinking Terry alongside Gallas, Carvalho.

Perhaps that is wishful thinking.

Ole did what he thought right, and it almost paid off.
As we are in a very good run keeping the same team is sensible.
Southampton are no mugs, and i thought we would drop points. If ee had rotated we may have lost all three.

Southampton are a good side indeed, they had a shocking start to the season but since then have done very well. They have some players that are better than a lot of people give them credit for, the likes of Romeu, Bednarek, Armstrong and Stephens in particular fly under the radar a little.

So not a huge surprise that points were dropped by you. It’s not like you just got trounced 4-1 by Solanke and co at Bournemouth

If not for the injury to Williams we would have got the 3 points. Then we could have rotated against Palace and played a strong team against Chelsea. Only bad luck has meant that the risk didn't pay off.

Hardly. The game is now far more important than it was before Southampton equalised.

Would anyone really have complained had Bailly, William's, McTominay and Fred started last night?
