Batting first. Not sure about that.

If you can stick it out early doors then it should be the right call but first the first session should be tough if we bowl well.

Crucial morning session for the series. England struggle if the opposition get 300+ batting first.

If Pakistan get to lunch no more than 2 down they're bang in it. However, you'd back our bowlers in these conditions early on.

Well see, last thing we want is get out for 150 and let England bat 2 days in the sun.

Spot on decision for me.... had to with 2 spinners anyway

Had to bat first with 2 spinners. However, 2 average leggies

Pakistan seem a batter light. Shadab Khan and Yasir Shah can bat a bit. I think Yasir Shah made a test century last year lol. That tail though from 9-11

England have just played 3 test against a solid bowling attack in Windies. They will be much more prepared than pak

Pak are going to be rusty and now in cold overcast conditions have to face Broad, Anderson followed by Archer and Woakes. Good luck.

That’s true... but England have been prepared before and not been pak in 10 years....

I feel there have been times when conditions have favoured bowling over batting that we've not bowled all that well by hitting decent lengths over and over. Often we'll bowl too full or too short and not put enough pressure on batsmen.

I think there's almost a feeling that we need to run through the whole batting line up in a session. The reality is we just need to keep bowling in good areas, make it difficult to score and just keep picking up wickets throughout the day. Restricting you to something between 250-300 all out should be the thought process rather than bowling you all out for under 100.

Pakistan need to see out the first couple of hours without losing more than 2 wickets. A score of 300+ required to be in the game.

I think the fans have got too used to the bang-crash-wallop of recent years

That's genuinely worse than my amateur record, and I'm awful

Then again I'm not facing Jimmy, but... I mean, some of the Surrey League bowlers are pretty handy...

Shan is not going to last long

Just seeing Buttler in the team... sigh. I love the guy but it just makes no sense when the Test and ODI sides are kept separate.

Buttler should be in the ODI side, for obvious reasons. And Ben Foakes, our best keeper, is left stuck on standby, meaning he doesn't play any cricket for England, and he doesn't even get to play for Surrey either, so both player and county are facked over.

Shan really does not want to be facing Anderson does he

Broad with a Harmy there... or are we calling them Gabriels these days after Shannon's exploits last month
