Next season

Good article Don, but it is the midfield that is the real weak link. None of our midfielders are anything above very ordinary, and need at least two, possibly three new midfielders. Get that area sorted first as an absolute priority. Cannot have another season of Winks, needs moving on.

Good article Don, agree mostly.

I don't like Jose as a coach but don't hate him like some, our footy has been awful for a while long before Jose. We need 3 or 4 players, I'm not expecting the style to change too much but we could at least defend more convincingly and be less easy to walk through in midfield.

If it brings in a trophy happy days but we know this is only short term, so for me if there is no trophies then the appointment has been a failure.

If we don't get champions league next season he'll get sacked and rightly so.

In the unlikely event we win a domestic cup it wouldn't be compensation for the awful football we have to endure.

winks will be here next season though. As will aurier, davies and sissoko. Not sure if anyone will be moved on of note.

No doubt need a minimum of a full back, DM and striker though. 3 signings is max I can see

Totally agree mate. This club needs trophies ASAP and Jose must deliver.

I think that the one glimmer of light I'd see as a spurs fan is that he genuinely looks like he wants to be your manager, which i didn't see in his last year at United and didn't think I'd see with you. Looks like he has something to prove. I still don't think he will get you back in the CL soon, but a cup.... who knows.

Completely agree. His attitude is so different isn’t it.

We need improvements in midfield, right back and back up striker would also come in handy. I wouldn’t mind a ball playing centre back either .
If none of these areas are strengthened we will carry on seeing this slow passing, turgid football being served Up under Mourinho.

The inability to pass and move, win tackles , recycle second and third balls, make ourselves available to receive a pass is truely shocking . Am sure Mourinho and his team can see this so am hoping we see an improvement on our play next season.

If we fail to improve in these key areas particularly in midfield then top 4 will be a pipe dream no matter who our manager is.

If funds are limited I'd much rather see us spend a bit more money on a RB, DM and a ST than go cheaper on those 3 spots so we can also afford a CB and a LB

Has to be Top4 or a trophy otherwise this Jose experiment has failed.

Can’t see us playing better football but expect us to win a fair few more games.

Yes we need to get those 3 sorted before thinking about anything else

Spurs will get top four next season Don, they have severely underperformed from the off this season, and in the end barely finished a few points of top three. Next season with a fully fit squad, a completely new midfield I expect Spurs to be challenging on all fronts.

We are not far away, a few upgrades of certain players would make a huge difference, we would have made the top four this season if the officials had done their jobs properly. The football is not brilliant, but who cares if it gets results. I have seen improvements at the back, we look much more solid than previously, which is a good sign moving forward.

only needed to sign those 3 players for 3 years now

I would take getting Callum wilson as the striker if it is as cheap as £10m. Other 2 positions need serious quality additions

I agree with this Don, though the next few weeks is out of Jose's hands and it's now up to Levy. I don't want to see the same last minute half hearted attempts to sign players. Get them over the line in a timely and organised fashion.

There is no excuse for this club to not have some targets in mind already. We know Bournemouth are down, so if we have targeted Wilson then let's go after him. Hoijbjerg is apparently another. Don't let that one drag out.

I am hopeful we can keep our best players so it's just a matter of getting the 2 or 3 extra in and phasing out the weaknesses, and then we should be carrying on how we left off this season with less of the type of performances we saw today.

Sixth is a good effort by Jose given the mess of the club when he took over. Football has been poor for you to watch at times but the results have been decent.

People saying he needs to get 4th or a trophy next season... That’s very well but unless he gets the money to spend this summer you can forget it. The squad is poor in several areas and needs a lot of improvement.

I can’t see him being given the money to do that personally, but we’ll see.

This squad is in transition.
1. Some of its best players are pushing their use-by dates.
2. Other just aren't good enough
3. and still others have fallen off form.

In each category are..................
1. Alderwiereld, Vertonghen
2. Davies, Aurier, Winks
3. Sissoko

Well, that's 6 replacements needed, before we look for a backup for Kane.

Levy just ain't going to do much of that!
So any idiot who thinks the shambles we'll have next season will make top 4 is just that.... an idiot!

Its going to be another very odd season. There will be a late start and no wriggle room as its a Euros year. There is talk of those Prem clubs who are still in the European competitions being given a later start date and of course the stadiums will once again be empty or not very full.

The European tournament qualifiers normally start in July so they'll have to be reduced to 1 leg and God knows when/if international games are going to be played?

I've got a feeling that the weirdness and uncertainty will suit a contrary facker like Jose and we might do better than most folk reckon.

I really fancy us for the Europa under his management.

Good article Don.

Correct that we need to judge José at the end of next season, be interesting to hear the thoughts of others on here as to what should be the minimum requirement for next season, top four and a trophy, or just one of? For me its the Europa League we should really try to focus on in terms of cups as winning that gets us into champions league........but what if it’s just top four would that be enough????

Yes but this is what happens. When we are poor or there are the areas for everyone to see for us to address in the squad, and Levy doesn't spend the money. Results and trophies don't come, miss out on CL, sack the manager.

Tbf to jose if it wasn't for Son and kane's injuries we would have probably gotten top 4

Top 4 really isn't a big ask next season

We need to strengthen as Chelsea and Man Utd surely will and already have done, top two nailed on for me already

Lets not forget that although the style of football hasn't been very enjoyable we've only lost one of our nine games since the restart and we were victims of the worst VAR injustice of the season in that defeat.
