Funny read this...

I'm glad he's got a bit of a streak about him...he'll need it

Keep it up Frank....they'll hate you for being successful

I don`t mind Lampard, but he struck lucky getting the Chelsea job. It was like a job for the boys appointment. He hardly pulled up any trees at Derby, then he lands a plumb job. Definitely only got it for his connections, rather than his ability. Mind you he is not alone, lots of managers only get their jobs because of who they know, rather than what they know.

I never quite get why modern managers moan about fixture congestion. They all have massive squads now, so what`s the problem. Not sure how any of them would have managed in the 1960s/70s before substitutions came in and when they probably only had a squad of 16/17 players to play every minute of maybe 50-60 games a season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jimmy Greaves played more than 50 games in a season once in his entire career. Teams didn't play as much football back then, especially if you include internationals and tours. There was also one less cup. The difference in fitness is huge with far higher distances covered now at faster speeds. A Fiat Uno brakes down less than an F1 car, etc.

There's not a lot correct about your post Sandy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very few, if any, modern players play 50 ninety minute games a season. How many Liverpool players completed 50 ninety minute games last season? So there is very little wrong with my post.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes but very few players in the 60's and 70's played 50 90min games so what you on about?

Look at the amount of football Firmino has played and where in the last 2 years. Players back then were covering FAR less ground too. There's everything wrong with your post Sandy as it flues in the face of every bit of sports science ever whilst also being incorrect in the first place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lots of players played more than 50, 90 minute games back in the 70s, Spurs had several a season back in the early 70s. I am sure Liverpool had lots as well in the 70s and 80s. Try to think before you post fella. For a start they had 42 games a season in the league, then both Spurs and Liverpool were heavily involved in European and domestic cup competitions. If you include Internationals, lots probably played in excess of 60.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope
----------------------------------------------------------------------

from 1981/82 to 1986/87 seasons, Ian Rush averaged 54 games a season for LFC

since joining in 15/16, Firmino has averaged 49 games a season for LFC

So thats 10% more footy back then

The spat on the sideline at Liverpool is just a normal situation that happens during a game. I doubt there isn't one manager who hasn't done the same. klopp certainly has.

But Lampard showed his inexperience my saying waht happend to the media. That was a mistake. If he felt that strongly about things he should have spoken with Klopp in private after the game.

Nothing to be gained by getting the tabloids involved and he cam out bad because of it. Hopefully a lesson learned.

Wouldnt say finishing 4th with the 3rd most expensive squad in the league is overachieving?

posted on 5/8/20

granted not his fault you have like 100m out on loan in flops etc. but Chelsea had one of the best youth academies for years now to choose from too, with some of the best upcoming talent in the country. I think hes done a decent job, wouldn't say overachieved.

I guess i rate what Frank inherited a fair bit higher than what Klopp did. I think Franks done a good job, but not gone above what you'd expect any decent manager to do with the tools, even with a transfer ban and loss of Hazard.
