Yeah but you're Northern Irish so you're born religious. It's more difficult for normal people

Thanks for the above comments MU52/Bluebells.

I'm not pretending I have it that bad really but it's just good to be able to say I'm happy to help if I can in any way. It's good to talk as they say!

It is good to be able to say, I need help or I have a tough life, mate.

And if you can help from personal experience with your partner, that is beneficial too.

But, we are all individuals and different.

My Ma is a manager on an A&E ward, she's totally opposed to legalising weed or any other recreational drug. When she was a young nurse she was dealing with a patient who had been been suffering with psychosis due to cannabis abuse. She was waiting at the bus stop after her shift and the girl fled the hospital and threw herself under a bus right infront of her. That was 40 years ago and it still upsets her today. She used to kick the shight out of me when I came in stonned. She's also dealt with a lot of people with Korsakoff but the horse has bolted when it comes to banning the demon drink.

I think this thread is brilliant, I've never suffered myself, but my brother has. He says the physical effects are nearly as bad as the mental. He's a big powerful guy, but when his anxiety kicks he's as weak as a kitten.

Similarly I know this guy who didn't drink and ended up jumping off a bridge. True story. So I drink to ensure that that doesn't happen to me

The price of bottled water is ridiculous these days.

Super thread by the way OP, these days have certainly made us all reflect and dissect where we all are, personel circumstances certainly dictate a lot of this, how much we are drinking as in more, missing out on social events, working from home and missing the social interaction with banter from fellow workers etc etc.

I've had the kids at home since March and being lucky that my wife has been able to work all the time.

But last week the kids were able to go to outdoor sports events safely for a few hours and then silence around the house which the longer it went made me really blue, I really missed the noise.

It's hits us all different lads and hope that my share does not appear flippant because it does run deeper.

Thanks for all the comments and big D for the thread, it's helped, take care you all, stay safe 😷😍

A year ago today , I wanted to commit suicide, My mental health was all over the place, I was on a downward spiral, I was depressed, I wanted to go to a bridge and end it all, But I couldn't and I'm glad that I didn't as well to be honest, I'm in a better place compared to last year, I do get depressed to be honest, But it's not as bad as it was in my opinion.

I’m glad to hear you didn’t matth. Was there anything you can pinpoint that helped improve your mental health from that moment? I was reading an interview with James Acaster earlier this week saying that listening to music really helped improve his health after being in a similar place.

Matt. Glad you didn't.

You're in a wonderful part of the world where you are. Go for walks on the mountains and to the beach. Also some great walks in the old slate mines where you won't see many other people. It's a fantastic day today so celebrate the year by doing something good.

I'm off for a walk in a bit with the dog and Mrs DC to a forestry and to a beach/cove where we hope to spot some seals and perhaps dolphins.

There’s a few people on this forum who should post on this thread but haven’t.

People who like to position themselves as decent people but use mental health as a stick to beat others with. Like schoolboy bullies who never grew up.

Let them be ashamed

Let them read this thread and think about what the words they use.

Great article OP. Haven’t been great myself lately but I guess I just need to open up.

Hats off to all posters here.

Sharing is caring, and by God we need more of that in the modern world.

I fear covid and it's economic fallout will bring depression in all forms this year and next, so look out for and have each others back
