United get penalties, And ?

Looks to me that United are starting to be relevant again.

At the end of last season no one would have cared how many penalties we got.

At the end of the day it is VAR that is giving these penalties. Maybe it is our fault that we keep getting players in the penalty area.

All but 2 out of the 21 penalties are contentious

The rules need changing to be honest. Refs have got to stop giving penalties when a foul has occurred.

Anyway, I think most see it more of a p1§§ take than anything else.
Obviously there will be the 'Billys' of this world, who see something much deeper and darker going on. 🤔

Crystal Palace had a huge amount of pens in the PL between 17-19, they had 21 pens in 2 seasons. A far lesser side than United but no one was calling conspiracy the.

We don't have a sophisticated pattern of play, but we have some very skillful divers who can beat defenders in the box and win penalties.

Like I just said elsewhere. You guys used to attack more when you were the best team in the country, perhaps the world so presumably you got more penalties back then? What? No? Oh that's right, you didn't need the help back then did you but suddenly one of the poorer sides you have had the last decade is attacking so much you get lots of penalties

It is simple. You need help, english football needs you to be successful or at least relevant from a financial perspective. Hence the most VAR decisions and a record number of penalties this season.

I wish we'd pay them to make clearer fouls so there would be fewer complaints.

In 15/16 we missed out on top 4 to City, and received 3 penalties all season (City had 8) - where was our help then?

Was it corruption when Watford scored more of their goals from the penalty spot this season than United? The PL desperate to keep Watford in the division?

How about in 04/05, when Palace (the previous joint record holders) were awarded 13 penalties, scored 41 goals (13/41 = 32%, United's 14 this season out of 66 = 21%), but were still relegated? Was that the PL desperate to keep Palace in the division?

____________

To be fair, that's quite a high number, given that we only got into the opponent's penalty area five times under Van Gaal that season.

I can sort of few why op fans are up in arms it does look a bit suspicious if they don’t want him all our games. But the facts are we attack a lot withskillful dribblers who are also good divers, who tend to get fouled a lot, and can make the most of the 50/50’s.

There’s no conspiracy, we just play the percentages and stretch the rules. Same as most teams, we just do it better..

I'll tell you what I don't remember - and presumably because it never happened - and that's opposition fans sympathising with United because they were hard done by, in terms of penalties received, for 2 decades.

Even now, as by far the most successful, and by far the most prolific, team in PL history, we're still only 2nd in terms of penalties received.

Opposition fans should be warmly congratulating us, telling us that - finally - we're getting our just deserts. Ungrateful swine!
