Every new signing brings us a step closer to our next FA Cup title in 4 years time, OP.

I know full well the extent of our owner's ambitions.

What course of action would you suggest? At this moment it's difficult for the fans to complain about a team that has just won the FA Cup, but sooner or later they will have to make their voices heard loud and clear that they want a top-4 team.

Gillespie,
When was your last oil change?

There's nothing like winning a cup final to paper over the cracks. Arsenal have done superbly well to win the FA Cup so often recently but it has given the board the comfort that not too much is .wrong. Meanwhile the fans moan about the rubbish CBs and the poor CM

Haha love it wheb spurs fans give advice about trophies. You'd love to win, something anything, you'd lose your sheite if you won 4 cups in 6 years

I thought the OP was a Spurs fan when I read the title.

Interesting article.

I remember 14 months ago a lot of hope that we would sign Pepe and Tierney.

The year before everyone was wanting Torreira and Leno.

The year before that it seemed impossible that we would sign Lacazette and then Auba in January.

So, when you say we get our hopes up and they are dashed I'm not quite sure what you mean. Is it because Laca, Torreira and Pepes performances dashed our hopes?

What would a spurs fan know about that

Idk what Dubbed is on about btw. Just scrolling down through all the articles and all that is being talked about is the underwhelming signing of 32 year old Willian

Poor article m8. 6 or 7 years ago it was relevant. We have been signing who we want in recent years. Pepe and Tierney were our main targets last season.

Yep, whether they turn out well or not isn't the point. We went after them, put big money on the table, and bought them. We've spent loads in the last few years, fact. We're still 3 or 4 players away from challenging but in the right road with Arteta

DJ Serves...

And smashes an ace that hits Dubbed square on his block-head

Let's see where we're at - at the end of the window?

If you want to discuss Kroenke being unwilling to provide additional sugar-daddy type of investment like Chelsea & City receive then that's a different topic. Would we all like him to? Yes. Is he ever going to? No. Would it be nice to have an owner that wants to invest his own money in his own assets to appreciate their value? Sure.

Most interesting thing about this article is... there appears to be 2 Dubbeds...

Wonder if both look like Squidward, or just the original.

Even with those signings every window, it was clear that it wasn't enough for us. Or were you satisfied with just that?

I don't know where this confidence comes from. Sure we won the FA. But we probably had our worst season ever, in terms of performances. You really think we've improved our squad compared to 5 year ago for example?

I'm the original Dubbed. I don't know who this other guy. Obviously that's something an imposter would say though tbf.

Ambition hasn't been our problem for years now. We've spent a hell of a lot of money. We've just been abysmally run and a lot of our spending turned out to be grotesque wastes of resources.

Our biggest problem imo is we have concentrated on trying to buy decent attacking players and only replaced old players as they need to move on elsewhere or if they really drop in form. Ramsey and Wilshere replaced with Torreira and Guen. Kos and Per out for Luiz and Sokratis in, Monreal replaced with Tierney is probably the best of the lot.

So while we have a decent attack now, as our being top of the conversion rate table supports, we have such a poor defence and midfield in particular we cant compete.

So while there is an argument to say we have spent money, you would struggle to say we have spent money well and built a team.

As for the signings, before we were linked with them I didnt see anyone picking out Torreira, Tierney or Pepe as the players we should sign. Same goes for Ceballos, Mari and Soares who our fans now seem to rate as top class players despite

=======
In the last 12 months we have signed Tierney and Saliba - two players who could very well be among the best in their position. We have also added Cedric and Mari to add competition and depth across the back 4.

Fans repsond to rumours. There are many rumours out there. As soon as the first 3 were linked they were the be all and end all for alot of fans for months before they were signed.

People have to remember there has been a massive change from the Wenger/Gazidis era, and a lot of past mistakes are still hampering us. That is not to say the current regime aren't capable of making mistakes, but I think we already have a strong base for a team with an identification and long term (relatively speaking) foundations.
