Firstly, how funny is it that this is being reported as a "free" transfer. Seriously, how stupid does the media think everyone is ??

Secondly, if Arteta is this "progressive young manager" we keep being told about, does this mean they don't trust him to do the job he is paid to do, being actually coaching players through, rather than taking the tried a tested easy route of paying end of his career 32 year old's obscene money, and therefore continuing to add to the financial imbalance in football.

Hope this end badly like Ozil. They would fully deserve that.

I’m wondering if as part of the Sanchez deal we’ve lent Ed Woodward’s negotiating skills to arsenal for transfers?

Pretty sure they’re only reporting it like that because it’s Arsenal.

If it had been Spurs they’d have published his full wages as the fee.

Media bias yet again.

Maybe spurs should give it a go. Might actually come close to winning a tournament.

Has Aubameyang signed his deal yet?

William is a mercenary footballer. Whatever possesses clubs to pay 32 year old average players £250 grand a week.

Despite the negativity about age, fees, contract length etc., it's a positive signing for the club as he will feature more regularly than most in their starting line up.

Gutted we lost him to Chelsea 7 years ago and I would still take him.The boy can play and has more technically in him than many of our boys but a 3yr contract at 32 for an attacking player is a little too much??

In this pandemic how many clubs can realistically afford to pay huge fees for contracted quality players? The guy is still a quality player, his latest stats show that. Don't forget Chelsea actually wanted to keep him. Giroud will be 35 when his current Chelsea contract ends next year, and he has been Chelsea's best striker this season. Age is just a number.

It will Steve. Free transfer, then pay a 32 year old obscene wages.
