Smith is a fantastic test batsman but a good ODI player, nothing more.
What people forget about Tendulkar was his ability in both formats, not just one or the other.
choosh please pick your team.
If Steve Smith continues going at these numbers I think he'll go down as the greatest batsman since Bradman.
He wont. Theres a lot more to a batsman than just an average.
Tendulkar -
all formats he was fantastic
100 international centuries
played 200 test matches
most test and ODI runs
ridiculous longevity
fantastic to watch

Dravid nad Laxman won India more games than he did post 2000. Overall Tendulkar is better of the 2, because he was the best or second best in 90's era when bowling was better and playing conditions were more favoured towards bowling
Anyone that makes a test team after 00 and doesn’t include younis Khan is either blind, cricket stupid, biased or all three. His conversion rate is second to none in all conditions too.
Reminds me of the current ‘fab 4’ they always bang on about and don’t include babar Azam - ridiculous.
another way you could look at it is, everyone who picks Younis Khan is Pakistan fan.
England fans will admit Babar has flown past Root now. Its more of a 'fab 3' now anyway with Root's form falling off a cliff.
I think the reason that people consider Lara and Tendulkar so great is the bowlers they had to face
Many players had decent averages in the 90s, but their averages shot up in the 2000s when the pitches got flatter and the quality of bowlers decreased.
Lara and Tendulkar were players that held their own against them. Even in the 2000s, Warne and Murali were around, Kumble too and we saw the best of Steyn, Akhtar, Bond, Vaas, Zaheer, Flintoff, Harmison, Jones, Lee, McGrath etc
2010s we have Anderson, an injured Steyn, Ajmal, Bumrah has just come in the last few years. Who else?

I consider Yusuf as greater than Younis , owing to bickering his career ended short but Yusuf played against attacks like Mcgrath, Warne, Harmison, Flintoff, Pollock and Donald successfully. Any body who pick who does nt pick Yusuf is either Indian or lacks good acumen
Just to clarify the bowlers in the 90s:
Ambrose, Walsh
Wasim, Waqar
McGrath, McDermott, Hughes, Gillespie
Donald, Pollock
Warne, Murali, Mushtaq, Saqlain, Kumble, Vettori
Srinath, Gough, Vaas, Akhtar
There are plethora of options in batting so many great batters have been left where as bowlers have been so easy to pick. This was opposite in 70's and 80's which shows how much the game has become batting oriented
I consider Inzamam greater than Yousuf or Younis, but like Lara and Tendulkar, his peak was in the 90s
JustTrue all very good points. I do certainly agree that the bowlers of the 90s and early 2000s was a much higher quality compared to these days.
Anyone who doesn't pick Kamran Akmal is anti-pakistani
Scandalous that no one has mentioned Ashoke Dinda.
