Got to ask yourself is he good enough for the Premier League?
Over the season we will be scrapping for points and if it comes down to the wire and we go down due to sentimentality it will have been a very poor decision.
It's a shame they don't do testimonial games anymore that would have been a fitting and proper goodbye gesture.
I'm not big on hanging onto players for sentimental reasons, but it sounds from owner and player as if something might happen and would hope that if he isn't retained then there is at least some sort of sendoff.

I don't see it as sentimentality if the club look after a player who got injured helping us to get over the promotion line during a period where he was in contract negotiations. I see it as the correct thing to do morally and I'm sure MB would see it similarly.

I don't mean to sound cold, but I don't think Bera is good enough for us at this level.. he's had a great time with us, but think we've outgrown his talent.
would like to see some gesture made by the club / MB.. but I don't really want to keep him in the squad unless MB thinks he can do a job by the way of the dressing room, maybe the younger players would see him an inspriration in terms of having heart, but I don;t really see him playing any other part for us

I appreciate that he may not be the first name on the team sheet, but he's good cover if needed. Perhaps missed him a bit last Saturday for the last 15 minutes.
Didn't we have a really good clean sheet record with him in the team last season?

From what I remember his record when he acted was great.
People talk about how much ayers like phillips and klitch improved under bielsa but overlook how much bwtter beraedi got under him too.

I think Bera is underestimated sometimes. He does a lot of leg-work which isn't always on our radar.
I appreciate that he may not be the first name on the team sheet, but he's good cover if needed. Perhaps missed him a bit last Saturday for the last 15 minutes.

We brought on Rodrigo, Roberts and Shackleton on Saturday, all three were attacking changes, Rodrigo for Bamford, Roberts for Pablo and Shacks for Kilch, which of those changes don't you make.
No way, even if he was in the squad was Bera coming on so he would need to have started, is he a better option than Koch or Struijk? Too slow for the premiership.
Personally I think when his contract expires he will struggle to find a club even for a year.

It’s odd that in today’s society we herald those who do what they are supposed to do. One has a contract to play, one is obligated to play if selected.
I agree that many have shirked their obligations, eg., Charlie Taylor, and Berardi is a true pro.
I suspect Bielsa will have made clear to the owners that Berardi should be looked after, he’s a man of strict principles and considers loyalty to work both ways
He’s been handsomely rewarded for playing for Leeds already. He will have earned in 4 seasons more than some fans will earn in a lifetime.
He didn’t risk his body to get us up. He only played once we were already up. I would assume he wanted one last game given he was out of contract.
He did great at times and can’t even question is commitment but he was also sent off against Derby and many fans would have burnt him at the stake that evening.
For me we need to move on. The club has conceded 24 goals in 5 games so far this season so far and we need players who can play now not one that might be fit for last 10 games
When I say take care of him, I’m thinking use of facilities and physiotherapy to get him fit again. I don’t think the club should feel obligated to offer him a contract or pay him while he recovers...like you said Kebab he has been handsomely rewarded over the years and should have enough tucked away to carry him through.
Yes by all means allow him all the facilities and help he needs to get fit. If he wants to stay around the team and watch from the sidelines then great. He seems like a good person to have around the team and I’d happily pay him a £25k salary to help out here and there whilst he gets fit

Sorry I work on a contract basis in what can be a dangerous job, like many others, I put myself at risk day in day out, if I get hurt in doing my job are they going to pay me for ten months while I am not earning, no, do I expect them to, no. I have to sign on and go on the sick. I have prepared for such an eventuality. He should have done the same.
You lot need to join the real world, they know the risk they take and that a footballer's career is a short one. Any footballer not planning for the day they hang up their boots is a fool.
Besides, the PFA has a fund for this kind of thing. Not our problem.
Pay as you play could be a mutually agreeable solution for Berardi, or at least until a more suitable solution for both parties is found.
