I thought Jota always looked better playing closer to Raul than as a wide man in a 433. But if he is the only player going into the opponents area next season we could do with Raul scoring about 60

Agree with that, so if we aren’t planning to play 2 up top then I can see the logic and it’s a great fee too. I’m concerned that the goal threat now comes solely from Raul (I didn’t see the Stoke game so don’t have a view on Silva), which will make us more predictable

I think Neto if they played the same minutes as Jota did last season would score about as regularly. Jota only scored in ten games last term. Neto scored five and had two or three chalked of by VAR in half the minutes.

Sounds ridiculous doesn't it . He just looked shocking in the Bayern game and Barca fans hate him but there again that club is a disaster right now. To me he just seems like someone who had got this reputation because he is rapid as his production just seems low to me for the position.

That said, imagine him and Traore on the right. The opposition full back would need medical help

I was impressed by both our new signings but at 18 it’s hard to imagine Silva being immediately a regular scorer. Also he is very much a centre forward so would need to play up front with Raul rather than a wide position in a front three. Vitanha is more of an attacking midfield player than we had before and very mobile so does give us another option

I think people forget how good Bayern actually are and also how our system means the wing back is never isolated. As long as our wing back is switched on positionally and can transition between attack and defence, I think that is enough defensively. Doherty wasn't the greatest defensively, he would regularly switch off and wasnt blessed with pace. If Semedo can get up and down the pitch, I would see him as an upgrade.

I imagine this link is a smokescreen though and our interest is actually elsewhere.

Fair enough . Trust in Nuno but yes I suspect Semedo isn't the real target. Corona still perhaps

Not sure we'll miss Jota. Yes he scored at will in the Europa League, but in 34 appearances in the league (starting 27), he only scored 7 goals and had 1 assist. If Neto gets as many games, he'll be more productive, plus there's Podence as well. I also believe Traore will score more than his 4 last season.

Baggies losing 2-5 at the moment. Welcome back.

No question Samedo would be an upgrade on Doherty despite the views of Cinci’s ITK Contacts. I’ve read a string of fans comments they rate him their best in that position. And did read an assessment that he is rated the 6th best in his position in the world. Certainly looked one of the stand out players when I have seen him in la Liga games. More a case that I cant see us getting him rather than not wanting him I think

Yeah agree. When I think about it, Jota is the forward I would have been most likely to sell if I were to lose one. Podence is very similar and has outperformed him. Neto is looking a great prospect and seems more consistent and flexible in where he plays. Traore offers something different to everyone else in a wide position and is such a good impact player. Obviously Jimenez is probably the most difficult to replace as a man striker.

I dont want him to go, but we can make a decent amount from him in a position we are well stocked in to improve other areas that need it.

Albion now conceded 8 in two games. Encouraging start!
