Bielsa v Fulham

Kiko is judged by the fans on perfomances on the pitch, we don;t see what happens in the dressing room.

Sounds as though Kiko could be some sort of older head in there, human dynamics within a group of males is complicated sometimes.. older heads and older thoughts help a goup of young lads too.. plus, I'd imagine his communication being able to speak the managers language and English helps maybe?

If the players want Kiko as captain then that's good enough for me.

I think whilst he's not the best keeper and i'd probably sell just to free up wages, he is better than what people say he is.

Juts before his ban a lot of people were concerned we would drop like a stone with him banned. A lot of the criticism comes from the FA charge and people forget he was playing quite well before the ban.

He apparently kept the score down yesterday. Leeds fans love a scaoegoat, and he's one unfortunately.

Don't care about meaningless cup competitions, especially this season of all seasons. They need to focus on the league. A win needed against Fulham, but not because we lost to Hull in the league cup, or because our sixteen year olds lost to Accrington, but because we are in the fecking Premier League and need to stay there.

Thats all that matters.

Lubo, don't agree with you comment, it's an insult to the League cup to think like that, long ago teams competed for every cup 100%. Don Revie would turn in his grave to hear silly remarks like yours. Especially now with the ridiculous salaries these players are on, they should at least not be excluded from Cup games. Leeds should be safe in the top flight, I don't think staying in the League cup or FA cup will affect their league performance. Otherwise the cups should be banned if everyone thought like you. Think well before making such comments.

I am sure that Don Revie would appreciate that sometimes certain things take priority. Survival isn't a given, and whilst we may be better than some teams, that also isn't a given. This is the Premier League, and the step up may well be a lot higher than a lot of people appreciate.

The League Cup isn't the competition it once was, and, whilst I would be more than happy for us to try and win it, I can also appreciate why other things are more important. Which they clearly are.

That being said, this isn't the OP that I commented that on, so maybe you should think well before responding on the wrong thread in future.

Even Championship clubs by and large treat the League Cup with disdain. There's really no benefit to it at all for most clubs and most even find the Europa League spot it earns you to be a complete pain the backside.

You have a pretty small squad and it's nowhere near as simple as saying "Leeds should be safe in the top flight" and that's that. Newcastle and Villa fans would probably have assumed the same once upon a time, but you probably haven't woken up yet to just how unforgiving the Premier League can be or the disaster that a relegation can cause. It isn't 1970 anymore and your immediate aim is survival, nothing else really matters than that for now.

Lubo is absolutely correct.

I have no problem with what Lubo said - considering the team we put out, I'd suggest that is exactly what Bielsa was thinking. "if we get a result, great. If we don't, I will have seen these guys in action"

The problem is that playing all those players in one team was always going to be a problem. Any single backup player or two players can slot in brilliantly alongside the first team - but remove the first team quality from around them, and you basically have a reserve team. We played our reserves - that gives the impression the club didn't really care about the Carabao

Which we didn't. Whingers on here would be the first complaining if he had started Cooper and he has picked up another injury, or Ayling, or Dallas, or Harrison, or Phillips.

Luby, I can understand your thinking behind this tactic used by many teams, and you are right they don't want injury to 1st team lads, but this attitude makes a mockery of the competition and is happening too often, I think the LC should be scrapped. And Lubo, I put the comment in this thread, as it was a recent one with very little input, so that it would stand out for you to see it, so I put my thinking cap on well there, to be fair !

On the Fulham match it is going to present the very opposite of the challenge at Liverpool where no one gave us a prayer. It is tempting to think, play like that and it should be a win etc but football doesn't always work like that.

Getting things right and settled at the back will be crucial. If we can be better on defending set pieces and retain that dynamic movement and energy going forward the chances will come along.
