Honestly

What would labour do differently do you think?

I dislike all government parties, I don't vote, I have my reasons..... I'm just curious about your views?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s just a thing Tory voters say to justify this shambles

For a start there wouldn’t of been ten years of austerity that has damaged our public services to near non retrieval.

There would not have been continued out sourcing to g4s and the like. This is where most problems are.

Police could have enforced rules better as there would have been more of them

Lick down would have come in earlier, not holding out for Cheltenham.

There wouldn’t have been Dominic Cummings

I could go on and on but I’m tired of telling Tory voters the same thing. If they can’t see how bad boris, may, Cameron are and were, then there is no hope for them.

Just keep reading the Sun ๐Ÿ‘
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh god, Dominic Cummings. Words cannot describe how much I detest that man. I hate that he thinks he is some sort of genius when in actual fact he is a talentless pathetic narcissist who believes he is above the law.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He seems to be consistently overestimated by everyone. Should have been fired.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He read the public mood perfectly, and ran an extraordinarily successful behind-the-scenes campaign, on Brexit.

Since then, everything he's touched has turned to sheite. I think it's fair to say he's not as smart as he thinks he is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I've never thought that. Not that he ran a successful Brexit campaign anyway. I remember those campaigns; the Leave side was a poor campaign, confused and disjointed. The Channel 4 show made it out to be a lot smarter than it actually was. But the Remain campaign was utterly atrocious. As one example, for that key first televised debate, when the Leave camp put up Nigel Farage for a one-on-one, the Remain camp sent up Nick Clegg. Nick Clegg! Now you may not like Nigel Farage - you likely utterly detest the man - but he's a great orator. One of the most vital moments of the whole thing and the Remain camp threw a wet fish at him. And Farage destroyed him. Whenever a tough question was thrown at the Remain camp on TV, they fell over it. Time and time again. Immigration? Sovereignty? Whatever your own thoughts on the matters, the Remain camp blew those questions repeatedly.

I have a theory in the UK: I don't think people have voted /for/ someone for a long time here. Perhaps even since the 1997 election. But people have voted against things. They voted against the Tories for years because Labour were seen as competent. As soon as they weren't any more, they voted for the Tories. They voted against the Lib Dems' voting system, because they didn't care. They voted against the prospect of the SNP propping up Ed Milliband. They voted against the Remain campaign because it was the worst of two bad campaigns. And lastly there are loads of people out there who didn't vote /for/ the Tories last year but instead wanted to vote /against/ Labour so much that they were willing to give their vote to a lazy incompetent just to keep them out of power.

The more I look into this facking pandemic the more I think we’ve all been had. Just let us get on with our lives and learn to live with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And die with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What are the actual chances of that though? It’s minimal, unless you are in a very small at risk category - who should be the ones being supported at this point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing is we don't yet know the long term effects as some have developed scarring on the lungs even though they've fully recovered.

As a guy in his mid 20's I'm unlikely to die from it, but I also don't want to get it and then have it bite me on the @rse in 30 years time.

Yeah fair enough, it was similar for me at the last election. Simply anyone but the tories, which in my case was Labour. Wasn't a fan of Corbyn, but really liked my candidate. Sadly, I am in the IDS constituency and he sneaked through by 800 odd votes.

Couldn't agree more about the Tories. And now the moderates have been shipped out, it is effectively UKIP. I hate to say it, but Farage is probably the most successful politician of our generation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
IDS... you have my sympathies. He's a poisonous rat of a human being, but at least he has the good grace to be completely ineffectual as well.

Gove is an abomination. He doorstepped me during the election campaign last year and I let loose. I recorded it actually, I'll see if I can find it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes please!

I think IDS knocked on a few doors when he heard the vote may be close. Before heading back to his Buckinghamshire mansion in his silly old car.

Anyway, I have since moved to Germany where people generally trust the government. It's a remarkable change of environment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've got it but it's on YouTube and I'd rather not give out personal details on here. Dunno how I'd go about posting it somewhere else - weird that there's no private messaging on this site

You cannot live with this mentality. You could have a plethora of health issues within that time frame. it happens. you may not even reach 30.

Until a vaccine is availible which may be never and even then may have to be a yearly thing or the virus may evolve past the point where its treatable.

Boris should not of bottled the herd immunity plan because logically its the only way forward.

The country was locked down to specifically stop the health services becoming overwhelmed. Now people are confused about why health services didn’t become overwhelmed??

Pubs and restaurants in Dublin were forced to close for 3 weeks unless they can facilitate outdoor dining and aren’t allowed have any more than 15 customers.

Total disgrace and all over a few hundred cases.

Djokovic got Covid 19 in July and reaches the US open semi's a month later, and won the Italian open today.
Very small chance of any long terms defects for those who shook it off easily.

Look at the Tories, for God's sake. I voted Tory when I was first old enough to vote, but the party now is an abhorrent bastardisation of conservatism. They're a horrible blend of libertarian/populist claptrap, more UKIP than Tory nowadays.

Me too, and it was the biggest regret of my life. I have absolutely nothing in common with anything that party preaches, Conservatism is a cancer. Imagine wanting to go through life trying to avoid any change to society. Such a boring ideology.

Of course it happens, but I still want to minimise risk where possible.

Going ahead with herd immunity would have been moronic given we knew so little about the virus 6 months ago. The hospitals would have been overwhelmed, a lot more at risk would have died, and they still don't even know if catching it prevents further repeated infection.
