anyway, my initial question was seeking clarification as to whether "they" meant sky, or the media in general. i presume that no one thinks that the bbc make stuff up to push people to place a bet, but i still wasn't sure whether we were talking exclusively about sky or the rest of the mainstream media.

I reckon if I started a twitter account and began making up some transfer rumors, there are vast swathes of morons out there who would actually believe me.
