I recently rediscovered tinned sardines in tomato sauce...delish
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where have you been?
They’re great - also in sunflower oil. Don’t know if it’s weird but I have them with pasta for a quick meal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you lads eat them?
Straight out the tin or heated up?

Mackerel in tomato sauce as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This was my staple when I was in my first year at uni. Being Muslim I had no meat shops around me so would buy mackerel in tomato sauce and make a curry type dish with it.
Loads of my mates thought it was weird until they tried it. They loved it.
Sardines on toast is my go to comfort food of choice.

I guess it's somewhere between the two. I drain the pasta and pour in the sardines and some cubes of cheese so it melts a bit. On sandwiches I would just have the sardines cold, straight out of the tin. Same on toast I suppose, though again the toast would heat them a little.

My dad used to call them “skinheads on a raft”, which I thought was probably the funniest thing it would ever be possible to say in the English language when I was a kid, and to this day find probably too amusing.

I buy tinned mackerel in white wine or mustard. love seabass but it's hard to find for some reason.
In Spain,Sea Bass is called Lubina, and is delicious, with many dish variations. It is also readily available down here ,when I go snorkelling, I see many ,and in the chiringuitos (fish restaurants) they are always available.

I remember having a giggle at that phrase. Apparently "chicken on a raft" was old naval slang for egg on toast.

Not far inland, but they don't have it often in the fish shop or the Sunday market. I can get it in Honfleur for example though.

Mint Sauce, whoever thought that filth was a good idea?
What a bunch of over privileged pretentious twunts with your feta this, Avocado that and salad. You all sound like Nigella Lawson after a night on the coke.
I am having a full English with added fried liver sausage, black pudding, hash browns & bread and butter. A proper 4 Dunlop meal.
