West Ham v Wolves preview [LIVE]

Will be very interesting to see how we set up on Sunday, genuinely several options and ways to go. Semedo on the left perhaps? Hoever RCB perhaps? Hoever RWB perhaps? I guess a lot will depend on Marcal, given he was pulled so early you have to assume he will be missing.

It's official then, nelson Semedo is a Wolves player

The game against Fulham is re-scheduled to Sunday 4th October with a 2pm kick off and will be live on Sky Sports.

What 2 years in the prem and some serious ambition can do. At the start of our promotion season 2017/18 we were buying in players from Norwich and Cambridge and selling to Reading, Leeds, Hull and Millwall.
Now we are buying from Liverpool, Porto, Lyon and Barcelona and selling to Liverpool and Spurs

Lovin' the direction this club is going

I'm getting worried, we seem to be buying loads of players.

With the purchase of Semedo I suspect we have concluded our transfer business now. And what shrewd business it has been. Who needs Moxey or Thelwell when you have Little Jeff?

We have brought in:
A keeper from villa on a free and loaned him out
A striker for £35m
An attacking MF on loan
A LB/LWB for £2m
A RB/RWB for £9m
A RCB/RWB for £30m
A total spend of £76m

We then sold Doc for £15m and Jota for £5m and received £10m in promotion bonuses for Cavaleiro and Costa.
Result - a nett spend of £6m

Well done Little Jeff

That should read Jota for £45m of course.

Our squad is massive now, not sure Nuno will be able to contain himself

Including Buur and Kilman the squad is still only 21, hardly massive.

Patricio
Boly, Coady, Saiss
Semedo, Moutinho, Neves, Marcal
Traore, Jimenez, Podence

Looks ok yes?

Bench:

Ruddy
Vinagre
Vitinha
Hoever
Dendoncker
Neto
Silva
Also not so shabby

I may have been a little sarcastic Gem but given we basically had 16 last season we are now positively flush with options

Setting aside the sarcasm from cinci, Gem's right and we do only have a squad of 21 (20 really, as Jonny is out for a long time). It's really no different from previous seasons, except we appear to have better quality players.

It really is about time that some on here need to understand that Nuno prefers to work with a smaller squad than others managers/coaches, as it keeps everyone content and the players know that they will be involved in most games. Those likely to miss out are probably Burr and Killman.

However, our bench is now stronger than ever, so hopefully over the course of the season, the new arrivals will blend in and improve under Nuno.

Nuno wanted extra players just like most of our fan base. Now after this window Nuno and most of the fanbase will be delighted we have added extra players.

posted on 23/9/20

Nuno, like all of us wanted to build a squad of better players and that's exactly what he's done. Our squad size is the same as last season, so this notion that we have added extra players flies out the window.

Sorry mate, but you're never going to get a full squad of 25 senior players while Nuno is here.

posted on 23/9/20

I don't want a squad of 25. I just didn't want a squad of 16 just like Nuno didn't. No doubt now we have a bigger squad of options no matter what way you shape it.

Wolfie moans whichever manager's in charge. I gave up debating with him once he started criticising Mick, after he'd won the league. (Mick, not Wolfie.) Personally, I'm enjoying the ride right now, as we all should be. ๐Ÿ‘

You're relying on Wolfie admitting he was wrong by saying Nuno has or wanted a bigger squad Cinci. That will never happen. Wolfie will fight this to the grave.

posted on 24/9/20

I'm sorry guys but in this instance wolfie is correct about squad size. To say that we only had a squad of 16 last season is nonsense. Nuno may have only chosen to use 16 players but the squad numbered 21:-
Patricio
Ruddy
Coady
Boly
Saiss
Kilman
Buur
Jonny
Vinagre
Doherty
Dendoncker
Neves
Moutinho
Jordao
Gibbs-White
Jota
Neto
Podence
Traore
Jimenez
Campana

Of these 5 players have gone, Doherty, Jota, Gibbs-White, Campana and Jordao. The remaining players are still in the current squad with the 5 additions of Marcal, Semedo, Hoever, Vitinha and Silva.

The squad size is exactly the same as last season but what is not in dispute is that the squad is now considerably stronger and Nuno will undoubtedly use more players than he did last season.

posted on 24/9/20

The issue is not the size of the squad, we could bring in 3 players from Walsall reserves and say we have increased the size.

The issue is that we now have a much greater depth of quality in the squad which means we have more quality cover and competition for places and will be less vulnerable to fielding weak teams when we have injuries, fatigue or suspensions

French press reporting that we are in conversation with Athletico Madrid about bringing in Thomas Lemar. He may be available to bring in on loan with an option to buy
