I think it's time for some on here to understand that is was Nuno, not me, that stated from the outset, that he does not want to work with a large senior squad and he gave his reasons why.

We've never had a squad of 16 and Gem's right, that's plain nonsense. Like I mentioned above and to what DJ has stated, we now have a stronger depth in our ranks, which should give Nuno more options.

We're not there yet to compete with the top 4 on regular basis, but we're certainly not far off.

Patience is something, some on here, need to get a grips with.

Oh, and by the way Bute, I've never had a bad word to say about Nuno. I believe he's right in the size of our squad and have defended him on more than one occasion on here. However, your hero deserved the criticism, but that debate ended years ago thankfully.

It is unreal isn't it how some cannot grasp the most simple of points

Maybe if everyone agreed on a definition for "large squad"? That may help settle things.

Just been reading on Mol Mix reaction to that tweet Bute referred to;

"Who's this Mercato fella? Name rings a bell."
I'm about 85% sure this was tongue in cheek... reaction...

"Its Spanish for market"
"No it ay thats mercado"
"Its Italian for market"
"Mercato Italian, Mercado Spanish"

Priceless

Maybe if someone could simply acknowledge that Nuno wanted more serviceable options and now has them we could all move on. I mean, counting feckin Campana as a squad option ffs!!

Or Jordao who was injured for most of the season and only had a few minutes as a sub appearance.

Obviously it's ok to not include Jonny this year as he is injured though.

Trying to think of players with called Market now, there have probably been a few Butchers and Bakers. Plenty of cobblers too but cant think of any multi disciplined one stop retailers.

Not bad figures for us then, 5-8m. Should help us out in the FFP stats.

Liverpool play at Lincoln tonight in the Carabao Cup. Probably a good game to give Jota his debut

Had the liverpool game on in the background earlier, I know the opposition was not the strongest but their reserves battered them. Good illustration of what strength in depth gives you, the ability to put out a second eleven and still score seven goals. We're light years away from that level.

Jota got an assist got one of the goals and came close to slotting one in too. Played a different role to what were used to seeing him in, he had teammates around him for one thing.

posted on 24/9/20

Sorry that should read... got an assist *for* one of the goals....

Fat fingers

Think that is our biggest problem against crap opposition, we just don't get the bodies forward in the box. Neves and Moutinho have probably been in the box more regularly in their home life than on the football pitch.

posted on 25/9/20

Yeah, how many nippers has Neves got at 23, 2 or 3? They'll all be out of the house by the time he's forty and he'll be able to enjoy a long and wealthy retirement doing what the hell he wants.
