Jose and Levy

I think Levy backed himself into a corner appointing Jose. It was very much his appointment and if it goes wrong he will have nowhere to hide.

I think he hoped initially Jose could work some magic and get us back into top 4 with little investment but he has now realised the only way we're getting back there is by addressing the squad weaknesses and giving Jose what he wants.

I'm not complaining mind, would love a quality CB. That and a backup striker is all we're missing.

why do you need to understand? i can put what i like as my first comment on the thread.

It's a strange reaction though isn't it. To see Tottenham are close to signing new players and your first comment is to (Probably because you're excited about this) say how their signings puts pressure on Mourinho. I don't think you would make a similar comment if Pockets was manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
this is Jose's first full season.

I am impressed with Jose's demanding nature in the transfer market, pushing deals through to the chairman.

Remains to be seen whether his spurs spell will be a successful one, so heres hoping.

As for these two players, i would be lying if i said i had seen either of them play.

Don, our best transfer window ever was signing Brown, White and Mackay.

Think there are better deals around than skriniar
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Who ? If we can pick up Skriniar for 30/35 mil, absolute bargain. There’s not many established centre backs available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He not a first team choice for Conte Don, they paid £20m for him. Not sure if he is worth 35m but will have to trust Jose on this one.

The reports I've read are that inter are asking for about double that (€60m)

Plus skriniar isn't really the profile of CB we should be targeting imo

He’s an established 1st teamer for Inter mate. Conte just has other ideas for his preferred 3 centre back formation. It doesn’t mean Skriniar isn’t a class player. He’s 100% worth 30/35 mil

BTW we did sign a 17 yr old CB last week

#thfc The club have completed the signing of Estonian centre back Maksim Paskotši. Maksim (17)has signed a three-year contract with the club and will link up with the academy. Was first on trial at Hotspur Way in August and he has already featured for his previous club 61 timesπŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ͺ https://t.co/7Wk1yaffwW

This Skriniar guy will be playing next to Dier likely

posted on 23/9/20

The more mistakes Dier makes the more chance Jose will drop him hopefully. He mentioned in his post match comment about Ings getting behind the defence and didn't look too pleased.

Since he has subbed Dier previously after 30 mins last season I hope he will punish him again IF or when he makes another mistake which leads to a goal.

Dier talks a good game but doesn't back it up for me.

Hopefully Sanchez who can cover his lack of pace. Could be a decent combo..

comment by Phenom (U20037)

Sanchez is still young for a CB and when he plays with someone more steady and experienced he looks good, his pace is a great asset.

Toby isnt the player he was and Dier is currently no where near good enough for me as a CB.

I would play a new CB next to Sanchez for the long term personally.

Agree. Just can't warm to Dier at all. Jose wanted to spunk £50m on him when he was at United and my god was I praying that happened. Be shocked if we got more than £20m now.

We need a CB who will compliment the weaknesses of his partner

Toby needs someone who is pacey, good in the air and is comfortable on the left

Sanchez needs someone who is good on the ball, good in the air and comfortable on the left

Dier needs someone who is pacey and a little more adventurous on the ball

massive pressure on Jose if we pull off these two.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is that the first comment you make. Not "Wow I'm so happy to sign new players" But "New players = pressure on Mourinho"

Almost like you want Mourinho to fail
----------------------------------------------------------------------
why would i want Mourinho to fail? that would mean the team i support would also fail.

The pressure was on Levy and now has been shifted to Jose now he is getting the players in he wants, and being backed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Regardless if Jose is backed or not he will always be under pressure by our own fans.

Last season when Kane, Son, Stevie B and Sissoko were injured he received zero sympathy or any kind of empathy from some posters on here and they were calling him out.

Phenom you were part of that too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are lot`s of Spurs supporters that pray that Jose fails, so nothing unusual really. They know who they are.

It's true though. After being backed more than any other manager we've had, he'll need to deliver top 4 and a trophy otherwise he'll have failed.

Poch will be watching on wondering why levy never did similar for him
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He did, but Poch went out and purchased players like N`Jie, N`Koudou, Janssen, Sessignon, Aurier etc. Jose is targeting players that will improve Spurs, he has much more experience and nous than the previous manager.

Not true actually Sandy. I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong. Unlike others, I will happily admit when this is the case rather than just go missing...

Let's leave the transfer window open, forever

posted on 23/9/20

This is great to hear (if true).

I suspect our apparent activeness at the moment is more down to it seemingly being a buyers market during this window, especially with European clubs desperately trying to reduce their wage bills. This was always going to get Levy excited, its right up his ally.
